Almost 1M SM and I'm finally getting invaded every 30 minutes or so, depending on zone. I just wish I got invaded more in the past because it's hard to get used to. Thrusting animations have ridiculous hitboxes, I have cross-region play set to restricted and I'm still getting stabbed across rooms.

Man its kind of hilarious as an invader when the host's two sunbro escorts spend a ton of time trying to kill you, then the host gets killed fighting the normal enemies :v:

Welcome to PvP! Latency can be pretty bad and cause weapons to have wonky hitboxes. Its most notable on weapons with a lot of reach. There really isn't anything you can do about it other than assume they will lag and keep your distance. If they are using a slow weapon like an ultra greatsword, you can keep away from their attacks and still have time to get in and punch them.

VVV Yup, always have moss equipped. It really helps against people that spam poison and toxic since digging in the menu will usually get you killed.

Oh man, what a bummer
Thanks other phantoms/hosts for pushing me out of the alcoves during the chariot boss!! I really enjoyed sacrificing myself for the greater good! :sun:

Co-oping for that boss is fun and sometimes a bit frustrating. Taking out the frustration with ramming the horse's rear end with the lance I made from his soul made me feel better though!

The Chariot Lance is really fun to use as you start upgrading it. Are the other lances in the game as powerful and are they worth using with Faith later on for Sunlight Blade/Lightning Infusion? The Heide Lance and Great Lance look like they'd benefit pretty good from that combination according to the wiki.

i hear it works anywhere in the castle but i havent tried that myself, i just put the sign down in the candle room.

Yeah I know how it works, but I did it for about 45 minutes (with occasional sunbro breaks to make it less boring) with no hits. From the sound of it, another 100,000 SM will put me in a better bracket for it so I'll try again then.

On my restart I'm doing a Belmont run and I've finally hit a wall with the Lost Bastille... finally got a piece of Twinkling for my Old Whip, but I've exhausted the supply of Repair Powder and don't have access to the Copse to get the Repair spell (nor do I have the stats). I'm gonna see how well I can bumrush the Wharf, though that still doesn't help much... I'm at 50k ish SM so I've got a decent buffer to farm up the souls to get priest lady to move to Majula so she can rotate the gate, but ehhh... could just as easily jump down the hole, but again, the Gutter would be a slog with no repairs.

Really need to just unlock the Copse and farm a Bloodied Whip, I think. :smith:

Also debating starting another general use character and going for the Arced Blade instead of a Murakumo build... harder to upgrade, but it looks awesome and seems to be not as popular in PVP, plus with the right stats is actually better. Alternatively a BKGS build that I Fire infuse and roll with a Pyro Flame in the offhand so that I burn ALL THINGS, ALL THE TIME, NONSTOP.

Thanks for that. It sounds like I've got a couple of options open to me. The Dragonrider Bow seems like a good fit, but I might want something a bit faster; my concept for this character was more of a mid-range 40/40 physical skirmisher type than a sniper so maybe the Blackbow will work best for me. I haven't had any luck tracking down a Longbow or Sea Bow yet, unfortunately, but I may end up just making a beeline to Ornifex for a Composite Bow I can use until the castle.

At least bows have more options besides light crossbow > heavy crossbow/spooky skeleton crossbow > avelyn > dual wielding avelyns. I didn't realize you could fire bows without zooming in, or I'd be using them instead. As it is I have a mundane heavy crossbow +9 and by god I am going to use it until I get to the crypt.

The first Sentinel you can always fight solo, but the other two will always jump up on the platform after you once he's dead. You've got a bit of time between when the second and third Sentinels show up, though, so if you can kill the second Sentinel quickly enough (which would have to be pretty drat quickly since you've only got maybe 15 seconds to do it) you could theoretically do the whole thing 1 on 1.

Someone did point out that you can kill one sentinel, stand on the very corner of the platform to dodge the second sentinel's jump sweep and go cray on him for a bit before the third jumps up. The one-on-one time should speed up the fight a good bit.

The way I'm doing my Belont run is whips only in the main hand, though I only have the old whip right now, and Castlevania subweapons only in the off hand. Right now I have the dagger, parrying dagger, and battleaxe, but I'm allowing myself the use of throwing knives and eventually holy water too. If there's anything else that qualifies I'm sure I'll remember when I pick it up, I'm an obsessive loot collector even if it's something my character can't use.

As it is I'll need another one so I can eventually power stance them because that'll be the only way to keep the damage train rolling by the endgame/NG+.

I've understood that you can't use ascetics on the nearby bonfire to get Wellager to sell WotG, but the guide says that you specifically have to kill the Looking Glass Knight and Nashandra in NG+++ to unlock it. Has anyone tried that, or is it absolutely impossible to get WotG on a new game?

Edit: As in, used ascetics on their respective bonfires until you've killed the NG+++ versions

No I mean the steps at the entrance where you have to fight the elephant men and open the door to the castle proper.

Ran into a guy who turned on infinite health the second I spawned in. He had the invis weapon ring too so I'm gonna guess all his gear was hacked. Obviously couldn't kill him, and he ignored me so I wasn't able to lure him off a ledge either. I don't get how people can have fun playing like that.

EDIT: And right after that a sentinel gets summoned that is fast rolling in full smelter's, using havel's sheild, and casting tons of high level magic. He was terrible so I stunlocked him multiple times, and it didn't matter since I did 30 damage per swing. Fun.

It's strange what's easier and what's harder between using primarily sorcery and primarily melee. The pursuer in ironhearth hall kicked my rear end as a battlemage; but I beat him first try on my melee char. On the other hand, the chariot kept ruining my poo poo with a greatsword as opposed to hanging back and sniping him.

It's okay, but not anything great. It has a shorter range than you'd think. It'd probably be good for powerstancing though. In retrospect I wish I spent my dragon bones on it instead of the mostly useless (in pvp, but I'm assuming it's not too hot in pve either) pursuer ultra greatsword.

Two estoc's for powerstancing

and can still roll perfectly fine.

In 1 I'd have needed Havel's ring just to medium roll with anything heavier than cloth by this point.

As far as I know the weapon buff spells don't scale. Flame Weapon will always add 50 fire damage to the weapon and improve overall fire damage by 30% for 90 seconds. Doesn't matter if you cast it with a Pyromancy Flame +0 or +10.
You can use Lingering Dragoncrest Ring to increase the duration by 15%, but that's not scaling.
