Anyway, there are a few good sci-fi directors in Hollywood that I think could do good things with this franchise

Danny Boyle (though he swears he'll never direct sci-fi again) did a good job with Sunshine and had fun playing with some Mass Effect-y themes. At least until the third act.

Sounds like he'd be perfect! :v:

I nominate Nicholas Winding Refn, so we get the Mass Effect film we truly need: 2 hours of "Shepard-Wrex-Shepard-Wrex-Shepard" and pretty much nothing else.

Yeah, this. I don't know why man-Shep is the default "canon" version, I'm really struggling to get through my Male-shep trilogy playthrough. There are just so many reasons why Fem-shep works better.

Not true- in the mission where you get Javik my Manshep went with his girlfriend and she got upset about some dead bodies and Manshep comforted her. When my wife did that mission her Femshep went with her boyfriend, and in that case it was Shepard who got upset about the dead bodies and the NPC boyfriend who comforted her.

She really should have been the one on the ship. I'd suggest Wong too, if they didn't decide to kill her offscreen so they could pander to the three fanboys that lusted after Chobot enough to have a chance to bang a (hideously misshapen) digital version of her.

It really is funny how much better the VA for femshep is. Manshep sounds like he's barely awake at the best of times. His voice is just so flat and monotonous, which co-incidentally is really good for people who youtube poop video games. Which is why every time I hear a manshep line I hear in my head "We'll bang, ok?" after every sentence.

also I would prefer, given the existence and failure of the books and comics, that any ME movie not involve Shepard at all, and furthermore have absolutely nothing to do with anyone who's ever written a book or comic in the ME universe.

the closest association to the trilogy I'd like to see in a movie is Archangel on Omega: Killin Bad Dudes for Two Hours, but that might still be pushing it given the franchise track record of tie-in material.

I actually like Meer better than Hale in the third game. It's not that Meer is better, so much as Hale sometimes has more emotion than I really want to hear in a player character. Meer is loving terrible in ME1, though.

Last I heard Legendary Pictures owns the movie rights to Mass Effect. They have a reasonable track record for big bombastic movie concepts which Mass Effect would fall into. They might even be able to pull off a Femshep version depending on the casting. A male lead Shepard is much more likely though just given the nature of action films and gamers in general.

They should just remake Dog Soldiers. Replace werewolves with Reapers, and replace a couple of the humans with Krogan / Asari / Geth. Just no Shepard and crew, they already got three games, let the heroes of the N7 missions have some time to shine.

I don't think it would be hard at all. The plot and dialog are already written. Just need to edit it into 120 pages and move some things from the Codex into dialog. IE: Explaining Tali/Quarians.

Shepard: Hey Tali, why the suit?

Tali: Blah blah we lost our planet. Abloo abloo.

Benezia would/should be removed. But Saren/Geth/Beacon/Kaidan dying all can work. (Ashley won't die because Shepard is male and will need a buddy and Kaidan dying will have a stronger emotional/dramatic impact.)

E: They could even cast Seth Green as Joker. He'd make a good Joker, I think.

I think this person had the right idea:

You could adapt pretty much any squadmate's storyline into a solid stand-alone movie.

Lot of gold in things like ME2 loyalty missions, waiting to be mined.

Or maybe do Liara's whole Shadow Broker arc, if you want a ton of acclaim and accolades

Or Garrus's Archangel adventures, if you want a kickin' rad action flick that could potentially make a zillion dollars.

Just shift things around a bit so the whole Reaper thing doesn't need to be touched upon so much, and you're good. Problem would be getting something that didn't star Shepard greenlit. Particularly anything with alien main characters.

Miranda might be the best bet. Just cast a hot actress, and you can market it in the "sexy woman wears tight clothes, kicks people" vein of Resident Evil or Tomb Raider. Wouldn't need many aliens or space- operatics in general: you could just approach it as a techno thriller/family drama. Maybe something like Aeon Flux could have been.

Folding Jacob's ME2 content together with the plot from the iphone game (replacing the fetch-quest parts of the latter with the former) might work if it weren't for, you know, Hollywood's approach to black people
