If there's even a remote chance we get a character like "Juice Guy" it'll be worth skipping through the serious stuff.

Good to see some love for HWYW. I love Julie, I'm excited for her pilot with Billy Eichner, here's hoping it gets picked up.

This week's Walking the Room was great with Patton guest hosting.

I'm less excited about "Mulaney," though. That trailer was... not very good.

Considering who is on it, and who wrote for it, I have some faith. Fox aren't amazing but they're putting Mulaney on the same night as Bob's Burgers and Brooklyn Nine Nine, both of which are fantastic shows, so I have hope.

I really want to like John's work, but they definitely did a good job making the show look pretty conventional.

Brooklyn Nine Nine had a lame trailer too

Don't judge it by the sneak peek, every show has a bad trailer. I don't even know why they try to drum up publicity with those. "Pilots are never that funny... Let's take all the out-of-context punchlines and cut them together!" I wish networks would put some money into producing cinematic teasers a la FX. Doesn't matter if it's Louie or George Lopez's latest corny sitcom; they make me interested, at the least.

Pilots themselves tend to be pretty lousy. I used to watch a lot of TV pilots (and TV in general) and I can probably count on one hand the pilots that I've seen that were truly good episodes of television. They are primarily made in order to sell the show to the network and have to play it safe to do so.

Hollywood is pretty dumb.

The other thing about comedy shows are that they are often so dependent on a strong ensemble and selling that in a trailer is near impossible. As is selling it in an episode or two. Almost every sitcom I hold in high esteem was not screaming out of the gate.

The new Todd Glass Show with PFT is indeed really good. Around 1h45m Paul mimics Todd's controlling/OCD hosting style for at least a minute and it's exactly as on point as you'd expect.

That PFT Todd Glass episode is totally brilliant - Paul talking about his traumatic childhood over that dumb music killed me every single time. And excellent observation by him that all 'old showbiz cool' is just them fake apologising.

I dunno how you feel about Bret Easton Ellis, but I enjoy his show (I love his voice, and his books, but he's pretty pretentious).

Also Stone Cold's first podcast of the week comes out on Tuesdays. Same with the Ten Minute Podcast.

Bret Easton Ellis podcast is unintentionally hilarious. He is so incredibly pretentious but even when I don't agree with his views, I love hearing him talk. Fun game: see how long it takes for his guest to speak. Or how soon Ellis says "haters" or mentions his 22 year old boyfriend, which he does in every ep.

As for the original question, the audio version of the Desus vs Mero podcast comes out on Tuesdays. Required listening IMO. Two sneaky smart dudes from The Bronx who will drop Thomas Kincaid references while talking about going knuckle deep into Kim Kardashian's butt.

I bank a bunch of podcasts I only listen to for occasional guests/topics and listen to those on "no release days" like Tuesdays (Todd Glass, Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin, Hardcore History, WTF, ect.).

Honestly though, with the U2 podcast being super long and NNF being twice a week I can't keep up with podcasts like I used to :(
