It dawned on me, that in the past six months, counting this interaction, the last 3 transsexuals I've spoken to were former military. One was a trans person who was running for city council, but she wouldn't talk about anything related to being transgendered in our interview. Apparently saying "I'm the next Harvey Milk," in private is fine, but saying it to the press, "Oh god I wouldn't want to do that." So my question to you is, how common is transsexualism amongst the armed forces? Is there any sort of link psychologically, or personality wise that would attract a trans person to military life?

The military attracts a lot of the trans population because its a totally different culture. For MtF, its a way to show HOW MUCH OF A MANLY MAN HURP DURP MAN MAN you are. For FtM, its a way to become the man they want to be (im guessing). Like I said before, I thought enlisting would cure me of my yucky trans thoughts. All it did was set me up for success. Im sure there is a lot more to it too.

I bought a bottle of Johnny Walker Green label and brought my sidearm home from work. I remember starting on the Johnny Walker and watching some TV then I blacked out. I woke up on the edge of one of the mineral fields in Miami with my sidearm and my bike. I was chambered with no magazine in. So... It was time to rethink some stuff. I paid for my own psyche to ensure my clearance and military service wouldnt be destroyed. I talked to some really helpful troons and transchicks online. And, I got my crap back in order. Then I started HRT about 3-4 weeks later.

What was it like when you started on HRT? I take shots for TRT because for some unknown reason my body decided that it just didn't want to make testosterone any more, and I have no idea for how long I was walking around hilariously low on test. It's funny because for years I lived my life pretty listless with no sexual drive whatsoever. Even when I started I didn't even really believe them when they said I'd feel better because I was just so used to feeling inert. Now it's unbelievable how much different I feel now my test levels are normal. Hormones can undeniably dictate your mood and how you think, so I guess what I want to know is do you notice the way you think being different from before the hormones? Is there a time where you're like, "There's the old me when I had thoughts like a man, and now I'm a totally different person."?
