Thanks for all the tips again on BSM and DOH overall. I went from 0 to 14 in about 90 minutes on Culinarian. Time for bed, but that wasn't so bad.

No he basically just said you can glamour your items but you're only ever allowed to wear class appropriate stuff. So whatever you make your dps look like will have to already be DPS appropriate.

In some 8-player content, the off tank doesn't have to do any actual tanking (unless poo poo unexpectedly hits the fan and they have to take over from the main tank) and can basically pretend to be a DPS. Titan Hard, for example.

Anyway, I'm rambling, but I invited a lot of members from that party to a linkshell I created for the sole purpose of clearing hard content with no schedule. In my opinion, this becomes a must at this stage in the game. Keep inviting people that never get hit by a Weight, do what they're supposed to and survive at least 'til the Superbomb, etc. Once you have 4-5 people like this with you on every run from your Linkshell or Free Company, you've drastically increased the odds of winning. By the way it was refreshing to hear your perspective on the fight. "Everything is so easy yawwwn, why am I so awesome?" gets tedious.

There is hope that more jobs will branch from a single, common class, much in the same way that Arcanist can go either to Summoner or Scholar. Personally, I'm hoping for Viking, complete with lightning- and thunder-based abilities.

Like I said, my only real experience with this game was trying to play it at launch, and it was such a clusterfuck I didn't touch the game for almost a year. That being said, it seems slightly more reasonable now. We are on Excalibur, right? Sometimes goon sarcasm escapes me.

In fact they are one of the only classes where it's actually more beneficial to actually remove your WAR Job stone in PvP, in order to equip a whole bunch of offensive cooldowns so that your axe can literally explode a target in 2 GCD's.

You can get a little bit of utility from thinking about how to gear your MRD for DPS, and you can probably find a use for holding onto a set of DPS accessories for those occasions where you're either not going to be tanking anything, or are going to be tanking things you massively outgear. On the whole though you will spend most of your time being a tank, geared for survivability over damage. Even going full DPS, in absolute perfect optimal conditions for it, you will be well below an actual DPS class. Like others have said though if you PVP then you actually get to be a pretty great spike DPS over short durations. It's also important to note that they've said that base classes like Marauder are eventually going to have two separate job paths like Arcanist does and it will almost certainly be a DPS class like, I dunno, Berserker or something. Whether that's worth sticking with MRD/WAR over leveling a regular DPS job is up to you.

The closest you'll ever get to DPS is in OT lulls during big fights, dropping Defiance for a few minutes until you need to get to work again and just unloading Storms Path on whatever's hammering away at the MT. Sort of like how Paladins switch between Sword Oath and Shield Oath depending on what they're doing in a fight.

So considering that I didn't die until after the first super bombs (most times) I was really proud of myself. edit: I still thanked the guy endlessly and eventually he caved in and congratulated me on the win. It is a game after all no need for the poor attitudes.

The only major problems i had as a Monk with Garuda EX is getting back to her and Suparna during the twister split i can survive one hit from the twisters but i almost always got hit with Slipstream due to poor timing.

The MT holding Garuda and Suparna should, as a rule, be pointing both of them away from the center of the arena, so you shouldn't be hit with Slipstreams as you approach from that direction. Barring that, it's not a terrible idea to focus target Garuda (at any point in the fight), and target Suparna as you shoulder tackle across. That way you can see what each of them is casting.

I have two questions. 1) When do Legacy servers open up? Seems to be every four hours or so, from what I've read. I'd rather not spend all day hitting refresh every three minutes, so a better time window would be super. 2) My ffgoons account is hosed up for some reason, I don't know who The Chairman is here (unless that is also your SA name), but if someone could take a look at it, I'd appreciate it. It's saying my account isn't three months old, which is clearly not right.

There's nothing keeping people running it repeatedly and once experienced people get the item they need from it they never loving go back. If you don't get what you need from it, you eventually shrug and get one of the other alternatives available.
