Crossposted from the Lab Chat thread: Job Opening I'm looking to hire a Gas Chromatography Chemist with industry experience and the confidence to take apart, service, and reassemble GCs. In addition, the person should be independent, self directed, and able to develop methods and analyze data. Experience working with polymers and/or pyrolysis unit is a major plus. Job is located in Thomasville, NC. Convenient to the Piedmont Triad area of the state. If you're interested, send me a resume and cover letter to dikhzgcjob yahoo com. We are a fast paced manufacturing company. People stuck in the FDA/GMP/GLP mentality generally have a tough time transitioning to the pace of our work. Job Seeker Location: San Francisco, CA (Though I'm currently located in Philadelphia, PA. I can [and hope to] relocate to anywhere back in California.) Education: BS in Computer Science from Purdue. Doing my PhD in artificial intelligence right now at Temple University and not liking it very much. Experience: Two years of research + Java development as an undergraduate. Two years of close-to-metal development in C and assembler at Qualcomm. Getting close to two years of Python at a healthcare/web feedback company. Regular participant on the SA Game Dev IRC channel. I've used C# for Unity projects and I've written a few JavaScript libraries for our frontend guys, but who hasn't? Working On: At work, our patient communication package. At school, classifying vehicle/ground in UAV video streams using deep learning. At home, writing games in Java or Unity. Looking For: Internal tool development, backend web work, or game development. I guess it can't hurt - Job Seeker Location: Currently Sioux Falls, SD, but with my mom's health on the mend after a cancer scare she wants to leave to either return back to NJ (Which would mean I'd be able to work in either New York or Philly or to go someplace warm (she'd prefer not LA coz she's afraid of earthquakes, but realizes that unfortunately my chosen career path means a good chance I'd end up there eventually). But I'm not afraid to move to Texas, or if need be even, the south. Education Lots of on the job training, 3 years into an English degree that I had to abandon for financial reasons. I did get my CCNA in high school. Expierience 4 years as a production assistant (in high school), and currently just over a year experience as the Operations Manager of independent TV stations. Prior to this job I had an inside sales position. As Ops Manager I'm pretty much running a station group of 3 stations that are mostly simulcast. I handle basic troubleshooting of the master control suite on the engineering side, but beyond the basics I'm definitely not a broadcast engineer. I also handle all the traffic and billing, handle all the pre-sales stuff so our sales team simply goes out and deals with the clients themselves (IE I prepare sales packages, manage avails and inventory, generate lead lists to help our sales guys etc. If it doesn't involve directly interfacing with the clients I'm likely the one doing it) I'm also the creative director and handle all on-air promotions, and have a lot of experience with Photoshop and Premiere, and am decently proficient with After Effects, InDesign and Illustrator. I also used to use Final Cut 7, and can get by in FCPX and AVID. Looking For Entry-to-mid level management in broadcasting. Preferably in programming or development, preferably for a network instead of a station, but I'll take what I can get, really. I'm leaning against GSM positions just because while I'm a competent sales person, I prefer not to do sales calls myself, but would be willing if it's an O&O just for the advancement opportunities with the network. Availability I have a court case in June (so if it's a position where a felony will be automatic rule-out without a chance for explanation, i'm out. It's a silly possession charge - my orthopedist was booked solid so my mom gave me a few of her painkillers until I could see my doctor and I got pulled over with them.) and will likely have 30 days probation where I can't leave the state. So Early August would likely be the quickest i'm available. [b]Contact Info[b] jmparon at gmail

I like my current job, but the current scheduling is something like "everyone gets three 4-hour shifts a week", and it's just not enough money. Job Seeker Location: Staten Island, NY (Barely 15 minutes by bus to the R line in Brooklyn, so a commute to the city ain't hard) Education: BA in Japanese Language & Culture Experience: I've done several small translation projects for a Japanese independent filmmaker, along with fan-translating a weird video game about a penguin and some fansub work with early 80's Power Rangers-type stuff. Additionally, I currently work retail for a Japanese clothing store that is slowly trying to take over the world through superior customer service and really, really nice designs. Looking For: Ideally, a translation gig or two. I enjoy the act of turning the Japanese language into something an English-speaking audience can read and appreciate. Failing that, some form of customer support role sounds really nifty. If I can handle retail at a Japanese company -- with all the customer support expectations that implies -- I'm pretty sure I can handle everything. Contract with current employer ended, so I'm unemployed. Job Seeker Location: near Canton, OH; willing to relocate, I am very open to going someplace new. Education: BS in Aerospace Engineering Experience: Most recent position was a contract position with a national bank, as a Vendor Specialist for four months, ordering and reviewing mortgage appraisals, adhering to the relevant Dodd-Frank regulations, and communicating with our vendors when there was an issue. I have another year and 1 month experience as an Assistant Loan Officer, performing loan origination, risk and credit analysis, underwriting, collections/repossessions, compliance reviews, and auditing accounts. In that time I have probably performed every task related to loan and finance operations at a bank. I have 4 months experience as a manager in a livestock feed store. I do not have any job experience in engineering, but have worked in a machine shop, and was licensed to operate fork lifts and powered equipment at two of my previous jobs (total of 15 months experience operating equipment). Looking For: Would like to get a position in banking/finance, preferably as an underwriter, analyst, compliance officer, or in a research position, as this is where most of my experience is and I would really like to get beyond perpetual "entry-level" status and retail. I'm really good with numbers and enjoy challenging projects. I am still interested in an aviation related position if anyone has them out there. Would like to try getting into accounting or maybe an investment bank as well. Availability: Now, for any full time position. Contact Info: PM or email me at my username at gmail.
