No mods, there's an event for the rump Soviet Union to fall apart like that after the Bitter Peace event, + there's all the Reichskommissariats formed out of the European parts of Russia conquered by Germany. I thought that was Kaiserreich for a moment. I was going to say, you actually have to work at it to not only keep a war going for that long but to get an outcome so much significantly worst than the real WW2.

I like how despite being nuked heavily, Germany still has a competitive amount of IC (420). You should upload the save file Farcoal because I've rarely seen a world so horribly hosed.

What kind of computer do you have? I've run a few HOI2 campaigns into the mid 40s, but usually it turns into a crawl as soon as I start WWIII and all the Russian and American units start moving.

And here I thought my ww2 that ran into 1947 was bad (never got the Patriotic War event as the Soviets, so got into sort of a stalemate for a long time and with AI allies doing jack until I was well into France). Way to drop the ball, US (and Japan didn't even declare war on the US). Oh well, more socialism for the rest of us (Gotta defeat Japan on my own, while Mao builds a stairway to the heavens )

So Europa Universalis IV is on sale on steam now for ten bux. There's soem sort of "Extreme edition" there too for an extra buck. What's special about that, and is EUIV worth it?

Do you vaguely like grand strategy games as a concept? If so, EUIV is one of the most accessible games in the genre and definitely worth it.

Basically, they are a few new events for Muslims, a cavalry unit texture for the Ottomans, Mamluk, and Persian nations, and 3 new songs. Personally, I'm not too interested in it; horse textures are kinda useless since the bulk of your armies will be infantry and so your units will generally use infantry textures, and I always mute the game and listen to podcasts/TV while I play so new music doesn't do much, but I might just be weird about that .

I'd say get the extreme edition since it's just a buck. Andreas Waldetoft is a brilliant composer and I will always be glad to have more of his music, and new events are always nice. I bought it when it was the full five dollars extra and I don't regret it, so I'd say it's definitely worth it for just a dollar more.

Victoria 1 question: Is there a quick way to check which states are the most populous? Capitalists only build factroys in the state that they're in and the ledger only gives figures on individual POPs with no state-wide view (or at least that I've been able to find) Alternatively I could go for State Capitalism but then having to build that many railroads by hand ...

BBJoey posted:Aren't the states in the population screen ordered by population? I wasn't aware there was a population screen as such? Maybe you are thinking of the states overview ("territorial management") screen? If so then that's ordered by number of factories by default. You can switch to ordering it by number of POPs (but not population) by clicking the little picture of the people at the top of the column.
