They will actually replace the "Do" in his last name with the number they are. Onzier, Twozier, Threezier, etc. Also, obligatory less than an hour for CFBalla to pick. I PM'd him this morning so hopefully he uses a computer before then. Oakland, Angels, Toronto, White Sox, Philly are the next five after them.

Are we allowed to trade players after the draft (assuming it's an even trade in the number of players exchanged)? Because I have 3 third baseman and I was hoping I could flip one of them for a need after the draft is done.

Like if you want to trade the player you picked in the fourth for a player picked in the sixth and then throw some draft picks in to even out the value that's all fine, as long as both teams end up with 25 players/picks at the end of the trade. Feel free to do three/four/etc team trades as well.

Cool. The Cubs would like to shop 3B Pablo Sandoval - Kind of not having the best year but FG estimates he has been the 7th most valuable 3rd baseman in baseball from 2011 to now. 3B/2B Kyle Seager - Can play either position competently. He's got pretty good pop for a 2nd baseman. He has a top 15 bat at 3rd starting with 2012 (his first full season) and top 10 for 2nd basemen. 3B Brett Lawrie - Great defender at 3rd with some power. His HR/FB rate is solid this year even though his other numbers aren't great I value those players in that order. I think the areas I'd like to trade one of these guys for an outfielder. I like some defense but they don't have to be Jason Heyward-caliber defender if it's a corner guy. tadashi fucked around with this message at 18:45 on May 30, 2014 |

Really dislike the Aoki pick for you positionally. Marte is a natural CF with an outstanding arm; he shouldn't be in LF even in Pittsburgh, and NYS doesn't have the North Side Notch. I'm not convinced that Marte/Polanco/Aoki is a better OF than Moss/Marte/Polanco, and I suspect that there are still all-bat-no-glove guys out there to fill in your DH. As it is, your 4th- and 5th-round picks are both primarily defensive players who you've blocked from playing at their natural defensive positions.

I'm "cheating" a little bit in that I have OOTP and can peek at the various ratings. Marte is at 90/80 (yes you read that right) for LF and 65/80 at CF. Polanco is 75/80 at RF and 70/80 at CF. Aoki is 60/80 at RF, and Moss is 50/80.

I don't draft in a loooooong time now, but for future reference how interchangeable are positions? For example, would I be able to play Nelson Cruz at 1B without it being a disaster (even though he's never played there in his career), or is he stuck in the outfield?

# ? May 31, 2014 01:40 |

I couldn't care less about OOTP ratings, but that's not my point anyway. The defense is clearly better with Aoki, because Moss is a bad defender, but left field is not a valuable defensive position so the actual marginal value of the improvement is decreased. e: ^^^ Boooo don't game OOTP draft to reality
