'Er we go is watered down fleet... if people bitch about tyranids not making it into combat because of random rolls and lovely armor it's going to be the exact same thing with the orks. Better than nothing! VVV They aren't bad, but it's the same thing as previous flashgits. Let's take an awesome CC unit (nobs) and give them decent guns (APD6 ignores marine armor half the time) that are mostly a trap. Losing the Armor4+ and access to a dok is actually worse, since you will probably lose a firefight against most squads if you aren't ignoring their armor (or they are in cover). I made a squad of flash gitz, because i was having fun converting them and my normal nob squad was getting confusing and time-consuming to track. Even I never really used them much. :[

I wouldn't be surprised if Painboys became like Commissars and Sanguinary Priests. 3 per Elite / whatever slot, doesn't use up force org. Looks like with the new rules, they could plant on a spot and hold it pretty well. It'd be a pain to go toe to toe infantry shooting and chew through that many wounds in cover while those guns are raining down on you. Looks like the unit could have its uses.

Sorry about the bad photos, conditions are not superb for them in here. This was a very experimental squad, as it was relatively early in my converting career. I had done a squad-wide stormboyz conversion before but most of the rocket packs followed a pretty similar design. With the flashgitz i just wanted to go wild and play with my bitz a little. There was a painboy too, but he was just the standard pewter painboy with the buzzsaw and the syringe. Figures they have heavy armor and that's not a thing for flash gits anymore. What is standard cover save nowadays, 4 or 5+? I have a badrukk too, but he's on my desk at work right now. If I find a picture of him i'll upload it, he's fully converted from the AOBR warboss. Are normal Nobz on 40mm bases? Here's a question. With this new detachment fuckery where you can include infinite force orgs in your army, and the mention of special force orgs in codexes, what are the odds on the following? Special force orgs for themed lists in codexes? ie Speed Freaks, Dread mob, Council of Ancients, Young Kings Court, etc. Will the characters changing force orgs be dropped in favour of specialist force orgs? ie Warboss doesn't make one unit of Nobz troops, but there is a special force org with Nobz as troops? Has anyone got sight of the Ork codex yet? I'm thinking of getting a Stompa as a centrepiece model, and logic would say they'd include it in the codex as it's a big plastic kit they sell in store and putting it in the codex so people don't have to bug another £30 book to use it would help drive sales, but what the gently caress do I know so I'm asking if anyone's got the skinny on how the new codexes work.

Flashgitz were a poo poo shooting unit and a poo poo assaulting unit. At least those Flashgitz are now better at shooting (for Orks). They also look great. Which is all that matters for Orks.

Thundercloud posted:Are normal Nobz on 40mm bases? Meganobz are on 40mm but regular nobz are 25mm (though the ones from the nobz kit barely fit on those bases) I think they might allow characters to give objective secured to units (without changing their slot) but I don't know about codex specific force org charts. We'll see. There's heavy indication that the stompa will get rolled into the book.

Direwolf posted:The short answer is yes, constantly. The one buff is that we can jink on the first turn now if we don't go first, which is a godsend, but Ravenwing is not an assault army at all and isn't good at assault except for one unit (Black Knights) which are also fantastic shooters - so the one unit that I wouldn't mind charging headlong into the enemy is the one unit I'd like to be able to shoot with, as well. The thing that makes Ravenwing viable is our dakka banner, and the jink change mathematically reduces the hits a 6 man squad gets with mass bolters from 21 to 7. I don't think we were the targets of the change but it's a really strong nerf to what we're best at. It's almost like they gave those units Hit and Run just for that purpose. And, oh, look, the Ravenwing banner gives you a pass on hit and run without having to roll for it.

Hit and Run is a very cool, cinematic ability. Goddamn if it isn't one of the most frustrating to play against, though. Especially in an army of White Scars.

That idea is literally the worst. If the stubborn 10 man guard squad with a Commisar has a 2/3 chance to bow out of combat so I can cop more shooting in their turn, all they lose is a few piddly guardsman attacks. Why wouldn't most units not just try and bail?

Assault should be buffed but allowing a unit to back out whilst suffering heavy casualties would address the game designers' phobia of units getting into assault and ruining their gun-lines.

Most units already struggle to defend themselves against a charge. At worst you'd have a 50% chance to back off, and most units, be they Marines or Fire Warriors, would rather let their friends have a turn of shooting than swing.

I would like 2-4 Catachan heads for my new Scouts. Specifically, I would like at least one head with a bandanna and I would love the person-of-color-smoking-a-cigar head from the old Catachan Sentinel upgrade sprue. I used to have that head on one of my Marines before I sold them like 6 years ago, and I would love to make that dude again now that I'm back in this terrible game. Can anyone help me? Does anyone have extra Catachan heads sitting around?
