Can we take a second to praise Alfie Allen? He is playing a character who is supposed to be pretending to be a person who he actually is but doesn't personally identify with anymore. And he pulled it off. He looked like a hollow pretender claiming to be who he actually is. He was one of my favorite parts of season 2 and I hope to god we get him back to acting instead of just screaming again.

Hasn't Alfie Allen never even been submitted for Emmy consideration? That's more criminal than the Trial by Combat.

at people being so upset they are unironically going to stop watching a show because of a character dying. I wish I had the capacity to drop things like that. Not really though. The expanded gore was welcomed for someone who loves horror movies. It brings a realness to the horrible things happening. It's actually funny in comparison to Ned getting beheaded. "Oh it's so beautiful!" Not really - a man got his head chopped off. As soon as those teeth got knocked out I was like - oh gently caress, this is gonna be insane. But... Tyrion is hosed now, how the hell is gonna get outta this?!

I'm mean, okay, we loving get it. Frankly, many of the deaths would have more impact without the gratuitous, gory visuals.

Cersei being smug as gently caress at the end bothers me more than Oberyn dying. At least I got a new saying from this episode. "Who gives a dusty gently caress?" is amazing. Thanks Jaime.

But a pompous motherfucker? Against the Mountain? No one has better reason for hating the Mountain and wanting to poo poo down his throat than the Hound and Oberyn. His passion made him over confident. He didn't deserve a death like that, at least in my opinion, he didn't.

Woah a character I loved got killed in GoT? How could I have foreseen this? The best you can hope for is that the fan favorites get an appropriately awesome death, and Oberyn got that in loving spades.
