And we don't give a drat about your opinions of our PM when the lame duck president you lot have is a worldwide joke, weak and a liar! And funny how the left like to come out en mass and whinge and complain when things aren't plodding along to their idiotic, simplistic and delusional point of view!!

Just bolding out the parts there that apply to Abbott more so than Obama. At least Obama has a good grasp of media and PR, Abbott is a complete train wreck. Even Bolt's abandoned him, for crying out loud.

Will they have enough savings come election time to throw money at the great unwashed? Especially if the opposition parties are succssful in blocking some of their savings measures?

Of course - when you do this in a campaign you don't actually have to have it on you; and you don't actually have to pay it out. Since before Rudd I, all bets are off as soon as you get elected.

I wonder what an election campaign looks like when you can't promise anything??? Because thanks to Rudd, Gillard and Abbott that's now what we have. No one will believe any promise ever again.

At second thought this could be a good thing - because it means elections will likely be fought on ideology and vision not pork barrelled or special interest group handouts.

No, Rowan Dean went Mr Pointy and Shouty and made Bernardi tame by comparison. Successful avoidance of any serious discussion achieved!

I believe the cops said he wasn't being used as an informant "at that time". Which is a completely different story. If he'd been an informant before, at any time, the police are at least partly responsible - which would also explain their swift response, abundance of instant evidence, their co-operation with the media, and arresting Rogerson in front of the TV cameras.

I'd say there's a lot more to the situation than the cops are letting on.

This is the typical left-wing bullshit that pisses me off. I don't understand why people expect that they can pick which 5 of the 7 days a week they get to work without trading anything for it. The people most affected by penalty rates are small business owners who are working alongside their employees in jobs that are largely indistinguishable from them (in addition to their work managing the business), earning money that is a lot more risky and not that much larger if it is actually larger at all. As a result most fold within 4 or 5 years.

I cannot for the life of me see what you're even getting at with this sentence. Do you think getting to "pick" to work on Sundays is a privilege you should be giving something up for?

Have you ever actually worked in retail?

*sigh*

Because this is the agreement that society has come to? Banks aren't open on the weekends (some few exceptions noted), most business aren't open, 'business hours' means 9-5, mon-fri. It's a standard part of society.

Railing against this is akin to railing against over time for long shifts.

"Why can't they just work 40 hours straight its the poor industrialist that suffer having to put together these cruel shift rosters" :qq:

I was going to quote slingshot and point out that the culture where I work is 100% 'If I have to work long hours as the CEO, those drat lazy qc/production staff can do unpaid overtime'. It completely misses the point that a) you control the profits, b) you make the business decisions, c) if successful you'll be worth a fortune, they won't be better off.

If a cafe owner decides to give serving and waiting staff as much control over profits and business decisions as they have then sure, we can start talking about making the work involved for each of them equivalent. Until then, welcome to workplace relations. I feel for small business owners, but the 4th person to open a cafe on the same street in a small town shouldn't be supported by society saying they can bend the rules to make their stupid business idea successful.
