If we think of the AI characters as assistants, then I would think the Glitch would get it. Horses would be natural assistants for space-knights.

To actually answer mollygos's question...I can understand why there's a backlash. It's not serious enough for some people's Serious Space Adventures. Perhaps give it barding and make it more obviously a Glitch starfarer's Mighty Space Steed? New AI portraits are the kind of thing I'd expect the modding community to be all over anyway.

Yeah, Tiy really needs to just learn to let things go. If he keeps feeling like he has to refute these people it's going to get ugly. They'll always be here, no matter what he does. Trying to appear superior by arguing with them, regardless of how he does it, is only going to hurt him.Loxbourne posted:To actually answer mollygos's question...I can understand why there's a backlash. SA really isn't any better than Reddit in a lot of ways, we just have to pay 10 dollars to tell each other we're better. If you try to discern what's kept Reddit going for so long, you're going to have to take a long look within. I like the horse AI thing, don't care about the tits or anything. Hard to judge too much though since the primary bit as far as AI goes seems to be personality and we've got no idea how those are going to end up.

Things I hate are stuff like clicking a thread title sends you off-site. Except when it's just some text someone posted. Which means that 100% of the time I want to get to the content I actually care about (people discussing whatever the thread is about) I actually need to tap the small text underneath that says how many comments have been made.

My complaints about the setting would mostly be around that it doesn't feel that consistent. You can venture into areas made entirely out of bones and tar or eldritch-esque tentacles or flesh and then go somewhere different immediately afterward that is silly and nonsensical, or your character would comment humorously on an object while they were in the middle of a torture room. Pos get some hate probably because they're based in sewers. Dark, dirty tunnels filled with cute smiling poos is kinda jarring, sort of like they've been imported from some other game. I enjoy the setting of Starbound as a whole. I just think that the transitions between serious and silly could be a little more defined. I'm not saying that Chucklefish should get rid of horse masks or pos for the sake of "maturity" but rather that it didn't shift around the tone of the game so much. That said, this game is still in pretty early beta so I can't really complain when a lot of the game is still in development and they haven't put everything in place yet.

Kyrosiris posted:I will never get what people hate about threaded comments. Then again, I was reading Slashdot before anything. Reddit sorts their threaded comments by the outermost post's vote count. Therefore, higher voted posts appear at the top of the list even if they weren't made first. That puts new comment threads, which start at 0 in either direction, buried below already existing stuff. Reddit's layout is poo poo.
