They say, "you mean it's just sounds?" thinking that for something to just be a sound is to be useless, whereas I love sounds just as they are, and I have no need for them to be anything more than what they are.

I just hate seeing anything go to waste.
That's a good example of two images of the same static subject/landscape being very different due to differences in framing, lighting/weather conditions, the addition of a person or object for scale, and all of the qualities of different films/post processing. They are wildly different images that reflect the intentions of their respective creators.

Thank god for the rain, was a long time coming. I just hope the snow lasts until Sunday because I'm gonna go solo hiking up the mountains again and I love snow.

I am going to guess the first picture was taken somewhere around Cerro Manquehue, right?

Nevermind, just read the flickr description and I was right.

I can recommend Cerro Pochoco (https://www.flickr.com/photos/mijaeus/sets/72157644172059181/, http://www.wikiexplora.com/index.php/Gran_Traves%C3%ADa_Sierra_del_Pochoco). Here is a view from the top of the first part (which is what most do) https://www.flickr.com/photos/mijaeus/13973598083/in/set-72157644172059181 (Thats Manquehue in the middle). Don't know if the snow will last there until the weekend, if you want snow I'd say a safe bet would be Farellones.

Already have a destination, but thanks for the wikiexplora link, had no idea about it, going to use it for future hikes. Used to hike quite a lot with my dad as a teenager but then stopped when I no longer had company. Just recently got back into it solo, which is actually quite enjoyable, just peace and quiet with myself, free to go as fast or slow as I want.

Something near my place caught fire, so naturally I followed the helicopters to a nearby reservoir. The drought out here is BAD; this whole thing is supposed to be full of water.

New toy, bought a 70-200F4L non IS.

Not bad, but it's certainly a kick in the balls not having IS on a long lense.

Some of these pics below were with it, nice colours and awesomely sharp under ideal conditions.

Did you use it in those images? I'm on the fence about upgrading past CS5 but an easier time fixing sky weirdness and low frequency stuff would be pretty nice.
