That's a good example of two images of the same static subject/landscape being very different due to differences in framing, lighting/weather conditions, the addition of a person or object for scale, and all of the qualities of different films/post processing. They are wildly different images that reflect the intentions of their respective creators. untitled-8.jpg by Denim Pants, on Flickr untitled-5.jpg by Denim Pants, on Flickr untitled.jpg by Denim Pants, on Flickr untitled-2.jpg by Denim Pants, on Flickr

I can recommend Cerro Pochoco (https://www.flickr.com/photos/mijaeus/sets/72157644172059181/, http://www.wikiexplora.com/index.php/Gran_Traves%C3%ADa_Sierra_del_Pochoco). Here is a view from the top of the first part (which is what most do) https://www.flickr.com/photos/mijaeus/13973598083/in/set-72157644172059181 (Thats Manquehue in the middle). Don't know if the snow will last there until the weekend, if you want snow I'd say a safe bet would be Farellones.

Already have a destination, but thanks for the wikiexplora link, had no idea about it, going to use it for future hikes. Used to hike quite a lot with my dad as a teenager but then stopped when I no longer had company. Just recently got back into it solo, which is actually quite enjoyable, just peace and quiet with myself, free to go as fast or slow as I want.

New toy, bought a 70-200F4L non IS. Not bad, but it's certainly a kick in the balls not having IS on a long lense. Some of these pics below were with it, nice colours and awesomely sharp under ideal conditions.
