Not a fan of the IV/70 myself. Its gun requires relatively precise shot placement for kills and it drives like a loving barge to the extent that I feel the su-152 may even slightly outperform it.

Panther is fantastic, the Tiger is ok but probably a bit inferior to the Panther even before factoring in the single life and lack of arty. The sluggishness, slow turret traverse, and squishier turret combine to make it a much juicier target for anyone with an 85-100mm gun.

I've kind of got the bug now. Last night was, fly around... See people below me, flip, pull up, dive down, ease back on the throttle, angle my line of fire to cross their path, throw rounds, fly up, repeat.

Occasionally it became, try to get people to crash while they chase me and the fine game of, "let's see if that rear end in a top hat will stall first."

Ya ok, this game is fun.

Yeah I dont care either way. MWO is dead. The Word of Lowtax is dead. If only Dongington's Office of Suspiciously Sticky Objects was still A Thing.

My friend used a key modifier once to have fire button tied to a voice activation. He'd sit all silent in Mumble but occasionally he'd go "waaagghhhhhhhh" to let of rounds. Since he was also using voice activation in mumble, whatever he said had to be so important as to be worth the ammo. He was also very brief.

So I gave this a try today and like it, but I think I need some pointers. I chose Britain and got the plane that has 12 machine guns because that sounded like a great idea. I like it well enough until I miss a shot and a 1 on 1 type situation springs up. Dogfighting devolves into me and some pubbie flying in circles until one of us gets disoriented and crashes or they reveal that they're actually a wizard who can somehow lead shots accurately during my shameful dance.

How should I be doing this If I don't want to dogfight? The most fun I had was chasing bombers and trying to survive their escorts long enough to take them down. I think I should be going for a heavy fighter? Maybe?

Switch to the USSR and play the I(or maybe L)-16 win mobile. That thing septupled my avg kills per match during the D-day event.

I am penetrating KTs in the upper hull at 800m. The penetration is working as intended, but the damage done seems unfair considering that I also get 2 lives.
I wonder if the tank needs a MM adjustment.

Im really glad I went back and spaded it. All the tanks after do about the same damage and reload a lot slower.

Hurricanes are bad, I would recommend trying out the Beaufighter series of heavy fighters. You'll have to play through two bombers to get to them but they're pretty good.

Lock on to your target of choice with the middle mouse button. Now press right mouse button to lock your view to him and zoom in. When you are turnfighting, its important to keep track of your target's position using this method. You should be maneuvering with WASD. Only use the mouse if you're performing a maneuver that requires its use, or you have a firm idea of the target's position.

Other than that look up real life dogfighting tactics because they generally work in this game.

Edit: ^^^^^ This man is very wrong. 12 rifle caliber machine guns just mean you need to get close to tear up the enemy. Also they can equip rockets.

Alright, I read the OP and first eight pages but I feel a need to ask: I've been playing Realistic mode the past couple of days and having a blast, but I'm worried that I won't be able to play Realistic mode properly without a joystick; am I just being crazy?

Also, are the Premium planes significantly better than the not-Premium ones?

NO, this game is extremely mouse friendly. You can literally point to where you want to go and the plane will fly there. The only time you 'need' a joystick is for Simulation battles, which are essentially 'IL-2 mode' which is the closest this game gets to being a hardcore flight sim. Otherwise, it's a pretty fun Michael Bay simulator.
And premium planes are literally the same planes you unlock aside from American prototypes which are generally outclassed.

Dezztroy

Joystick is only needed for Simulation Battles. You're better off using mouse+kb in both Arcade and Realistic.

Premium planes are generally just a more profitable version of a non-premium plane.

It handles really well at 600+ kph, and retained that speed enough for me to outrun everybody on my tail. The "Final Blow" is from killing what I'm pretty sure was the same I-185 who had forced me to land, after I took off again it turned out he was the last one on his team alive.

Despite half my team lawnmowing in typical :911: fashion, we won quite handily. I'm gonna have to play US more often.

How does two kills get you this much of a reward in RB? Even when I can eke out a kill or two I clear like 1000 RP or so over the course of a long-rear end match, making it significantly less efficient than AB. What am I missing here?
