Its my one day off this week, until next Thursday as well, so I fired up the charcoal grill, made some chicken and beers all day!

I have been working these silly rear end night shifts (drive an hour, watch guys unload trucks for two hours, drive an hour home) sense last Friday and will do so until next Saturday. I was doing ok with sleeping and such until tonight. Got home at 1230am, at 1am took a melatonin pill and three Benadryl. It's now 3am and I am still up. I really dont want to become totally nocturnal but I kinda feel like getting up and reading or something. Or maybe just stronger sleeping pills.

Three days off of work. Beer and pizza rolls for breakfast. The sun is shining and there is work to be done in the garden. Time to load up the cooler with ice and more beer, grab the sun screen and get to pulling weeds and digging trenches. I love this time of year. From what I've read, beer can be used to attract and trap/kill slugs and snails in a garden. I will try this out today and report back for all you greenery growing folks out there.

Use something like a tub of margarine buried up to the lip. So it's like a tiny pond made of beer.

Beer is valuable. Use sugar, water, and yeast. If you have no yeast, you can use a bit of beer with the sugar water as a starter. Since yeast isn't cheap, you don't need to keep using new stuff every time you dump the traps. Just use a bit of liquid from one of the untouched traps as starter, add more sugar water, etc. Or keep some yeast going in another container. You too can be a homebrewer (for slugs)!

I have some Skinny Dip from New Belgium brewery because I got a variety pack. It is the least tasty beer I've had out of a bottle. I tried mixing it with some lemonade and I will now forever have lemonade around for times like these. In other news, working 55 hours this week so I can only relax so much. This paycheck will be grand though.

Slugs will die for tesco value lager, there's no way I'd put effort in when that option is available.

Reminds me of the joke where the guy goes with hat in hand to tell his friend's wife that her husband drowned in the vat at the Guinness factory tour. "Did he suffer?" "Didn't look like it. He climbed out three times to pee"

I was at the store yesterday and saw their Berry Weiss beer, so I grabbed a 6 pack to try it out. Its a bit sweeter than I would normally go for, but still pretty good. After being so spoiled with all the local breweries around here, its nice to get some good beer from another part of the country.

My very responsible fellow network engineer just handed me a copy of the Lego Movie for this weekend. Neither of us have kids. He said watch it drunk like he did. I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend. Grilling out, having friends and coworkers over, and drunkenly watching what should be a kids movie.
