I made this short film a while back. It was originally going to be part of an ongoing series of videos about beards, but as it turned out it's become just a weird curiosity. It's supposed to be a silent public awareness film sponsored by a fictional mustache wax company, called the Deft Chin Gentleman's Grooming Club. Please excuse the cheap-rear end Bic Razor used. I didn't own a Shavette or Straight Razor at the time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPKXdJbCsVg

A few months ago I posted about my band making a "tv" show. We finished the second episode a few weeks ago and finally were able to get it up on the internet this week. The second one came a lot quicker than the first one in all respects. We had a script for most of the segments (as opposed to improv-ing or only having story beats to hit), shot lists, and in general more skill under our belts with this one. We shot most of the episode on an Ikonoskop, which was a big step up over what we shot the last one with. There's still lots of room for improvement, but I'm really pleased with the big jump we took in just the span of one episode. We premiered it at a comedy event at the Cucalorus film festival in Wilmington a few weeks back, which was an interesting experience to say the least. On to the third episode. https://vimeo.com/78231833

EDIT: This is a music video about not abusing the priority seating on the Subway system in Seoul, SK. A buddy of mine did this, he's not Korean, but he managed to write the entire thing. Music and everything. I don't understand Korean nearly as well as I do Japanese, but it's pretty damned clever and funny. You have to take my word for it. Please watch and give criticism if possible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfTCQp5YWnc I'd like to help spread the word, but it's all in Korean so most people won't appreciate the difficulty in what he managed to pull off. What do you guys think? Jack Burton fucked around with this message at 04:20 on Dec 17, 2013 |

I enjoyed the crap out of this, but I'm also an American who spent a year and a half in Korea and can speak/understand decent enough Korean. I would have known a non-native Korean speaker wrote it without you having specified that from the simplicity and mild awkwardness in the phrasing, but it's in a charming way that contributes appropriately to the overall vibe he's got going on in the video as a whole. I honestly don't know how much people who HAVEN'T experienced this for themselves will really get it and/or find it amusing, but I really really appreciated this and would imagine it would do quite well within the foreigner/ESL teacher communities in Korea (and those who were there but are no longer). Will be happy to share this on Facebook and give him some more exposure.

Here is the film myself and my team put together for the 48hr film fest in Orlando. We swept the awards http://www.creativeinletfilms.com/techsquad/ Specifically I worked on the title intro, the credits, and basically all of the motion-graphic/effect stuff. We've submitted it to some other local film fests and have been doing pretty well with it so far. We're considering doing another, or possibly a small web series of them.

^^^ While a bit long, watching someone shave their beard into various stages of cleanliness is mesmerizing enough for me to watch the whole thing. Nice work. So, while not technically A short film, since there's 5 of them, we just released season 2 of our web series "Paul Goetz's Last Ditch Effort", a story about an actor trying to get cast in the new season of Arrested Development, in the style of Arrested Development. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-Qkh1P3P2w This was the 2nd season for us, and it's in the style of the new Netflix season of AD, so the four episodes that come after the prologue are interconnected. A lot of the jokes pay off in the future episodes, so watch em all if you can!

My writing partner and I self-funded a teaser pilot to a cartoon we created. Unfortunately, the company that ordered the pilot didn't pick it up. Luckily, we retained the rights to it. So, we are just putting it out there. http://vimeo.com/87783400

After spending a few years doing tv spots and corporate, here's my film directorial debut: I have a surprise for you.: http://vimeo.com/user20816757/ihaveasurpriseforyou It's a short little horror/comedy. Originally was going to be for the 100 Hour Film Race, but sadly we missed the deadline by about thirty seconds because of an export issue. So we touched it up a bit and we're submitting to festivals. Let me know what you think!

Solid gags with the wine bottle dropping on the floor and not breaking, and the guy who keeps spraying whipped cream. I thought the acting was a little wooden in the beginning. My biggest complaint is that the logo for your film studio is green and brown. I do not think those colors are nice. Even though David Lynch used them for Twin Peaks.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! Are you taking about the bar scene?
|
# ? Jan 7, 2015 03:37 |

Yeah, the bar scene just seemed a little fake with the line delivery. I don't know enough about acting to really identify where the issues are, but their interaction rang false.

I starred in a short film recently, written and directed by a friend of mine. It just went public on Youtube today. It's a little horror/dark-comedy, and it plays with some intense scenarios in inspired ways. I would like to know your guys' thoughts on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aPJc-1AVCU
