So for your daily dose of sociopaths on social media, a woman is being investigated for killing her son, basically for the MySpace/Twitter/Facebook likes. She had a feeding tube port installed on him when he was a baby and then force=fed him salt until he died, all while updating Facebook. She also watched a child for awhile and claimed it was hers on social media. Mysteriously, both boys under her care would get constant severe ear infections. In the case of the boy she nannied for, they cleared up as soon as she was no longer looking after him.

I dunno where I'm from it's pretty much accepted that you hold the door open for the person behind you regardless of their gender, or yours. I have a really hard time believing in any of these rants where Mr Nice Guy was ranted at by the raging feminazi for the gesture.

I had a guy friend who was uncomfortable with other guys holding doors open for him. I guess if you view it as a form of courtship it'd be weird, but I just think it is polite. I saw a license plate holder that said m'lady the other day. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to see the driver.

Yeah, I hold the door open for everyone, if you get to the door and there's someone right behind you, then you keep it open for them. Like someone said, if you waggle your eyebrows, doff your fedora and wish mi'lady a pleasant night you'll look like an rear end, but no one is screaming in anger over people opening the door.

I never had anything to share here til I started adding co-workers. One of them posts a mildly amusing picture: Which generates a string of "hurr, hurr" comments until the girlfriend takes offense ("Sam" and "Phil" are both girls. "Phil" is the girlfriend and "Sam" is a mutual co-worker) Don't know why the names change at the end there. Checked the girlfriend's profile and sure enough it's filled to the top with all kinds of possessive "back off my man" statuses and the like. Girl, if you have to work that hard...

I've never had anyone get mad at me!

If people are getting mad at you for showing some basic human kindness then it's time for some internal reflection on how the world perceives you.

I hold doors for women because it was ingrained heavily in me to do so as a child and I feel bad if I don't. It's clear to me how that can be perceived as a bad thing by certain people but a majority of the time it is appreciated so I do it because by not doing it I'd feel kind of bad anyway. The times people have made comments about it like "I can get my own door thank you" I just said "of course you can" and stepped out of the way. One time only did I get someone who really responded angrily and I just said I was being kind and that they were being rude and just got out of their way. That person sucked though.

But then again I may just be a prude, I guess. Also, fuckin' hell, if a guy posted that exact thing on a female colleague's wall it might even be posted as a perfect example of "Idiots on Social Media" in this forum. But in this case, hell no. I'm not sure which you're saying you do, Breaky, but the latter is obnoxious as gently caress and if you're doing it, it's a habit you should break yourself of. e: it's me, i'm the idiot SneezeOfTheDecade has a new favorite as of 20:03 on Jun 19, 2014 |
