Incorporated some feedback and am about to leave for tonight's game with this list: Panoceania - Military Order | 10 models ________________________________________________________ Teutonic Knight Lieutenant (42|1) Teutonic Knight Combi (42|0) Teutonic Knight Combi (42|0) Order Sergeant TO Sniper (39|1.5) Order Sergeant TO FO (29|0) Konstantinos (29|0) Order Sergeant Sniper (27|1.5) Order Sergeant Spitfire (20|1) Order Sergeant Combi (13|0) Indigo Combi (+1 wip, CH: Mimetism, Super-Jump, Engineer) (13|0|12xp) ________________________________________________________ 296/300 points | 5/6 swc open with Aleph Toolbox : direct link I intend to exert board control with the two snipers (one linked, one TO), have three potential LTs that are also strong offensive pieces, and use my TO FO to grab objectives and mine them. Definitely expecting some Gao-Rael sniper link opposition, but I ought to be able to out-shoot that during my active turn with my 5-man link. I hope. Will have to keep my TO guys hidden until Gao-Raels are dealt with. e: And my opponent had to cancel at the last minute. So we'll have to reschedule - but I'm still looking for further list feedback then! Corbeau fucked around with this message at 04:08 on Jun 13, 2014 |

Cool list, Corbeau. Tell us how it goes after the game. I have a friend who is curious about MO but I have found few reports and such to give him a better feel of the army.

Two short questions that came up in a game yesterday: 1) I deploy my Bashi Bazouk with its two holoechoes via AD:Parachutist. Do all three have to touch the table edge upon deployment or may I place the model at the edge and then the holoecho markers inside the round template thus possibly placing the "real" Bashi at a distance from the table edge? 2) Two opposing models face each other at 2 inches distance. Now one is activeted and declares a shoot at the other. It AROs with a shoot order itself and then the second part of the active models order is a move around its enemy. Outside the enemys field of view, facing its back. Let's say all shots miss. Does the activated model now face the back of it's enemy as a shoot order allows no change of facing? Would be a nice trick for dogged or other multi wound models in close quarters. code:

Yeah, I sure know "All shots miss" is a +dangerous+ assumption, but like I said with a dogged or multi wound model vs. something big like an enemy TAG or HI which probably won't die to the first salvo it might be nice to get a second round of shots off without a face to face roll. And you have him pinned in this position. You declare shoot, he AROs with a dodge or turn facing and your move action is getting behind him again. Can you even declare dodge:move into CC as an ARO without the enemy your front 180°? From the Wiki: "Dodge is a Short Skill that allows a PH Face to Face Roll to be made against BS, CC, PH or Forward Observer Skills to avoid an enemy attack in LoF." Every game you learn new tricks, I really like Infinity. Doctors Inc fucked around with this message at 14:18 on Jun 13, 2014 |

No, you can't dodge without LoS/SS. I meant that the trick will work the first time and when you try to go around him again he'll just dodge into CC. It also has the big disadvantage of wasting orders, and most importantly, what the hell are you doing 2 inches from an enemy that hasn't been shot to hell yet?
|

It might not be the trick to end all tricks, but it could be quite useful in the correct moment. And I can imagine quite a few scenarios where you encounter an enemy at a very close distance like inside buildings. Statistically speaking, most of the time trying to dodge into cc will have worse odds than shooting back at close range. And if he fails that dodge roll, I got him by the balls. So, sounds like a win-win situation to me

Corbeau posted:- but I'm still looking for further list feedback then! I really like this list and thought I'd tweak it with my MO Spec Op list. The main change I made was to replace the Teutonic Knights with two Montessa Knights and a Peacemaker Armbot all of which have Mechanized Deployment. In my opinion being able to place strong units on the center board line at the beginning of a three turn game is invaluable for defending the objectives and establishing early dominance of the game. Even if you go second your opponent will spend a lot of resources digging out to HIs and a remote dug into cover. Not to mention that you have two TO Camo units you can place up to the center board line for free to add support or just reveal themselves to take objectives. Remember Konstantinos is also really useful with this kind of deployment if you can spare him in the Link Team. Panoceania - Military Order | 10 models ________________________________________________________ Knight of Montesa Spitfire (53|2) Knight of Montesa Lieutenant (46|1) Peacemaker HS (31|0) Auxbot Order Sergeant TO Sniper (39|1.5) Order Sergeant TO FO (29|0) Konstantinos (29|0) Indigo Combi (+1 wip, -0 bts, CH: Mimetism, Engineer, Hacker (Hacking Device), Doctor) (13|0|12xp) Order Sergeant Sniper (27|1.5) Order Sergeant Auxbot (17|0) Auxbot Order Sergeant Combi (13|0) Palbot (3|0) ________________________________________________________ 300/300 points | 6/6 swc open with Aleph Toolbox : http://goo.gl/vJelvY I also added an Auxbot and a Palbot to your link team so you have a real party bombing down the board together. One of the nice things about this list is that there are a bunch of reconfiguring and SWC choices you can make while still keeping the basic strategy in place. If it were me I'd probably ditch the TO Sniper for another FO Order Sergeant for another Specialist on the front line and use the points and SWC to get another Spitfire for someone. Some tournament scenarios will restrict Mechanized Deployment but I've never played a tournament where that happened more than once. In my league we usually play with two lists so with this type of setup I usually pair a TAG bomb list for those use a bigger hammer situations.

That sounds like a really, really good way to guarantee being into LoL after your opponent's first turn. I like infiltration and mechanized deployment, but throwing your obvious Lt. out there seems like a enormous gamble.

If you deploy your Lt in particular badly, then yes it is. If you place him in a smart position (terrain withstanding) there isn't that much risk to doing so.

It's certainly better than outright losing a turn, but having everyone go irregular still really limits what you can do (and, afaik, basically eliminates any link team).

It eliminates the link if you use any of the individually generated orders. I believe you can still spend the generic orders you get for being in LoL on the Team leader as normal.

Correct: In a Loss of Lieutenant situation, any figure belonging to a Linked Team and possessing the Religious Troop Special Skill, who uses its Order (The Order the Religious Troop Special Skill allows it to keep for itself) is no longer part of the Linked Team.

We ran a local tournament over the weekend and had great turnout for our tiny little local meta. PanO wound up taking the top spots (boooo) but we otherwise had a good mix of factions represented. Our top player basically came asking the question "Dragoe?" and no one could readily come up with an answer. We also had an Avatar stomping around which I didn't expect to see outside of High Tier games. Our FLGS dropped the ball on getting the physical ITS packet and doesn't actually stock Infinity so we came up with some alternate prize support and things went rather well otherwise.

So there is an Infinity group gearing up here in Jacksonville so I started looking at the available armies. Pretty much settled on going with the Combined but they have 2 starter sets. The sculpts in the Morat starter look way better than the ones in the other starter, is one just more current than the other? Also gave the starter rules on the website a read and it seems really interesting so far. One of the guys offered to run me through a few demo games sometime next week so that should be fun. Here is the Morat starter

3 starter sets, actually, but the Shasvastii one is an entirely different beast. Yes, the Morat starter is very recent while the Vanguards in the generic CA starter were one of the first CA models.

Alright so there are finally some Infinity players in my area. I've played one game with a guy that was doing a demo, and watched a few more. I need help picking faction/starter list. So far they seem to be playing starter box up to 150pt sized games with scenarios that require specialists. Everyone is a beginner. Currently the group has players with Nomads, Combine, Japanese Sectorial and Merovingian Sectorial. Sadly Yu Jing and Shasvastii were the two factions that appealed to me the most initially, but I don't want to double up with another player. I'm now leaning towards either PanO or Haqqislam. In PanO I like the all of the high tech anime armor dudes and the robots/remotes. In Haqqislam I like the Hassassins, Djanbazans and Naffatuns, but the "low tech" look of some of their other stuff turns me off. Tell me what to start with to have the most fun. Which of those two should I play and should I buy a starter box or something else?

I need help picking faction/starter list. So far they seem to be playing starter box up to 150pt sized games with scenarios that require specialists. Everyone is a beginner. Short version. PanO has high tech, high BS, and middling willpower on average (outside of the knights anyway). They hit hard but they can have trouble with the hacking end of the game unless you invest in the better characters. This also applies to the objectives that require WP rolls. Their powerful gear and HI also means you have to watch out for hostile hackers and EMP. On the plus side, you've got the best overall access to TO camo and some of the best TAG choices in the game. Haqq is slightly lower tech but a lot more dedicated, reflected in good WP stats all around. They tend to favor LI and MI specialists, and their biotech focus shows up in game as extensive access to doctors and units with funkier special rules like viral ammo, regeneration and super jump. High WP also makes them more competitive in the hacking side of things and fairly reliable on WP rolls in general, whether detection, intuitive attacks or objectives. You won't have nearly as many big scary toys as PanO, but they're entirely viable. Personally, I like Haqq more and they have solid starter boxes (the Hassassin box requires proxies, however). Pick whichever you like the look of better and you'll find some way to make them work. Dulkor fucked around with this message at 05:35 on Jun 22, 2014 |

How is Aleph's ability to take 4pt netrods not unbalancing in terms of being able to generate a bunch of orders for a very low point cost? I think I'm liking the looks of the Aleph cheerleader models and also the prevalence of mimetism/camo and no wound incapacitation in the army.
