Oh and Boys get the Stikkbombs for "free" in general, so slugga & choppa boys have them at 6 pts. That could have been clearer.

Tankbustas also have proper meltabombs instead of the old ones. Probably no reason to take a tankhammer over a PK nob.

Can you explain how Da Lucky Stikk works? I saw the early leak of the relics, but re-rolling any failed hit, wound, or saving throw so long as you don't fail them again 3 times in the same turn seemed too strong. Seems like an auto-include for an army with high-strength and good armor saves, like mega-nobs.

It does seem pretty good. have a look for yourself.

Edit: I don't know if its a nerf or not but I checked regular mek tools to compare to the fancy ones and they are a +5 repair now. They used to be 4+ but a 1 caused shaken.

Man I'm glad my deffrollas aren't glued on.

From the looks of things there's good and bad changes and a lot of old strategies need to be rethought. But, heck, run and charge... Yes please.

I'm not so sure about the run and charge. Even in 5th edition when you could do that, I found that it was almost always better to shoot and then assault. With planked battlewagons choppa boys backed up with stormboys could/will! work well, but I think footslogging is going to suffer badly as boys are susceptible to pinning and panic.

Edit: For anyone who is interested the Shokk Attack Gun is almost exactly the same as the last one. The doubles are the same with the exception that 1+1 removes only the BigMek and 6+6 pops down a vortex. You can also take a gitfinder, so -3 to your scatter for 5 points.

The difference to 5th is that you also get a reroll to one of the die on your assault.

So now it's not unlikely to cover 16 inches in a turn on foot and potentially 24 inches.

The gitfinders on SAGs sound sweet. Do boyz only get one nob still? Seems like you can scatter a few meks to side units now to compensate for the problem with challenges taking out your only nob at least if it's the same. Relic costs seem decent.

Fast attack has gotten a large buff with the big drop in points for bikes, buggies, Koptas and Stormboyz. 25pts for a twinlinked rokkit is great. 18 point bikes.

Personally, my problem is that my buggy units had a theme. Now I have to build more go-karts. Does anyone in the UK have two landspeeder chassis going spare?

My Meganobz are smiling as well. I can buy them a painboy and there is a relic for +1ws which lets the Mega-armour boss re-roll hits, good times.

Seems cool.

So on Sunday I did a thing...

Biggest game our club has done at 10k points a side. Couldn't physically fit all the gaunts in the deployment zone at the start, and we only had time to finish the first two turns. I managed to fail nearly all my charges on the second turn too, so the Imperial side was winning 12-4 when we called it. Probably could have clawed something back with a couple more turns. I did manage to kill Calgar during his finest hour though - despite him rolling the T10 2++ trait.

The moral of the story is that I need some Harridans for the next time... and probably that Tyrannofex formation from the Valedor book.

How to paint orky metals, easy and quick.

1) Prime with Krylon Matte Aluminum. Only the matte, never satin or gloss.

2) Apply rust with a blister sponge. This was Vallejo Rust Brown.

3) Wash the whole model with black wash (GW Nuln Oil). I used a whole pot....

4) Paint gubbins and details. Work complete.

Couple of quick questions as I'm looking to possibly start an almost entirely deep striking AM/MT army:

1) In an unbound army, is it possible to take heavy weapons teams without platoons?

2) How exactly does disembarking from a valkyrie work? Does it have to be hovering? The rules are a tad confusing.

Looking at things now, it's possible for shooting to cause pinning and Morale tests to boyz now, right? Even above ten model squads?

So, you could potentially kill 8 orks in the shooting phase with a barrage or snipers, forcing a pinning test that does d6 s4 his, then a Morale test for another d6? Not game breaking, but that seems pretty poo poo for the ork player.

I don't have the book, but I'm hoping the mob rule chart only comes in when the irks fail a morale test.

1) Yes and no. Unbound is "There is no force org", but the way Platoons work is that you HAVE to take the PCS and two guard squads in order to take anything else, as it's the cost of the entire platoon only counting as a single troop choice. With that being said, there are multiple FW Guard Armies that allow you to take Heavy Weapon Teams by themselves as a HS choice, and at least one of them (Armored Battlegroup IIRC) even allows them to take a Vox. So, that's always an option there, since Guard has THE most potential for Unbound cheese picking and choosing from the dozen different valid FW lists.

2) If a Valkyrie comes in on the table, you have two options to deploy the guys inside. The first is to deploy normally, which as you suggested requires the Valkyrie to be in hover-mode. The second, and far more exciting way is to use Grav-Chute Insertion, which is effectively the squad being punted out the back with exceptionally unreliable parachutes. How it works is that you nominate a point on the board that the Valkyrie passed over that movement phase, and then deep strike the squad onto that point. If they scatter at all, everyone has to make a dangerous terrain test, and if any model can't be deployed they're all destroyed. It can be pretty risky, but well worth it for putting Meltaguns exactly where they need to be in a pinch.

Edit-if you're deep striking Valkyries, which older Guard lists, Elysians (Who are THE go-to army for deep strike shenanigans, since every single unit in the army list has Deep Strike) and MT (Since Scions have Deep Strike and can confer it onto DT Valkyries, IIRC) can do, it's pretty simple*-if a Flyer Deep Strikes, you choose if it's in Flyer Mode or in Hover mode when it comes in (If it has the option), and if it's Flyer Mode then it counts as having moved Combat Speed. Thus, the only way to deploy troops is through hover-mode, as you can't deploy anyone through GCI as you haven't actually moved anywhere on the board.

*This is how it worked in 6th, not sure if it was changed for 7th.

I like that even though the mechanics of our teams are literally identical (I'm Salamanders too) and made from the same kits (albeit with a few conversions here and there), our stuff looks completely different.
