I got p lucky with it. Me and a group ran it like 500 times when it came out and our score was just creeping up like 1 point at a time, then we got host migrated and i guess it hosed up the point calculations so we got a score of 141.

- they make a wolverine snikt noise when they pop out

- the stance is super brutal and seems to have like a build in execution animation on one of the combos (for anything that isnt dead before the end of the combo). also like all the combos are pretty easy to do and different

- if you equip them on ash it means he has a total of 4 pop out wrist blades and thats really hilarious to me

It benefits people from running those anyway since all drops are shared (As in, everyone gets the same loot)

It's pretty nice like that and Nekros is really, really fun!

Nekros is, sadly, a pretty mediocre frame, but he does have a single especially good ability - Desecrate. It basically makes all nearby corpses drop their loot a second time. Useful for both farming rarer drops and on survival missions, where it gives you a second chance at oxygen canister drops.

His other abilities - Soul Punch, Terrify, and the zombie summon one - are kind of terrible. Soul Punch just doesn't compare well to most good weapons, Terrify isn't something you would want to use most of the time, and the way the game handles player damage vs. monster damage means that your zombies will always do a completely irrelevant amount of damage.

Then there's the real problem - even if any of those abilities were good, you would still be forced to choose (on halfway difficult content, anyway) often between using them and saving your energy for Desecrate... at least until you have really great efficiency mods. The team will probably always need desecrate more than anything else you can do, so you end up pigeonholed and all your gameplay is just weapons. It's not DE's best idea.

You will hear a lot of "play what you want bro!!" in this thread, mainly because Warframe on the whole is kind of easy and rarely are the overpowered frames and weapons highlighted that much except for a few specific scenarios (mainly high wave defense and survival runs).

He does look good, though, and both his alternate hats are nice.

Best rifle for damage, still Penta and Ogris in practice I'd say because they're huge grenade / rocket launchers that take rifle mods. But fun-wise, I like to use Amprex (heavily formaed) because i just aim in a general direction and a whole crowd of enemies disappears while they're always affected by some status (I pick radiation so that if I have to reload in the middle, they'll be keeping each other busy for a few seconds). Soma is still god tier for automatic rifles as well as the newer Boltor Prime (former is hitscan, later uses projectiles).

The Soma is a good crit weapon, but you should only use it if you like to bore yourself to death.

As mentioned, up to this point the Boltor Prime is probably one of the most powerfull weapon, and is still quite fun. It can staple enemies to walls, has integrated penetration already, and with multishot/etc the thing is a biest.

For explosive weapons either the Ogris which is a straight up rocket launcher, or my favourite - the penta. Which triples as potato gun, minelayer and grenade launcher. You can decide when to explode the grenades, and with enough mods the impact on the enemy alone kills them. Which is hilarious.

Suicide included.

Do not feel bad about asking. In fact, please ask, it gives bitter vets something to warm their cold hearts when they can give you one of their 90 copies of mods that are a royal pain to get as a newbie but will increase your enjoyment of the game tenfold.

Also it's plain fun to drag newbies to all the cool areas in the game, and don't worry about 'not pulling your weight' or some poo poo, this isn't wow. Worst case we revive drag you through some missions, which is entertaining in itself, and more likely, we stick you on a building somewhere nearby while everything blows up in an orgy of rainbow colors and you level like mad and get space rich.

As for specific Warframes, literally go for whatever looks cool to you. There are certain frames and certain combinations of frames that are preferred/desired for 'optimal' 'endgame' mission runs, but a lot of that is bullshit because endgame in Warframe consists of shooting the same enemies at higher levels.

Tons of stuff (frames/abilities/weapons) that aren't 'viable' against masses of super high leveled enemies are perfectly fine in any of dozens of other mission types, and a few strong frames in a 4 man team can carry a lot of the weight (often all of it), even if the last frame is literal unleveled deadweight.

The only frames that you can't farm for super easily are Vauban (alert rewards only) and Oberon (drops from a specific type of rare enemy, which you can kinda farm, but usually isn't worth the time since you'll get him naturally doing anything else in the game).

The 'Prime' frames come from a specific type of mission and are somewhat harder to get than the 'normal' frames, but a) the parts are tradable and b) they're very marginal upgrades over the basic frame of the same name, mostly important for bling and squeezing out every last stat point from the game once you care about that sort of thing.

And that's a lot of words. Ask for help, go for fun looking weapons and frames, you can't go wrong.

Valkyr is a decent frame, very survivable with both a ton of EHP, extra mobility with rip line, and invincible during her ult. She's not the best but not bad, and easier to get than nekros which is hiding on derelict bosses. You will have to get to Jupiter to farm her parts though.

Iffy on the re-balance stuff. As you can see discussed at great length in this thread, DE is good at making fun things, but not so much balanced things. Another side effect of their business model is that fixing old content will never pay as well as adding new content. Some of the frame balance passes have made frames great, like Mag, and others have been left broken and destroyed like Ember.

"Is that your final dandy?"
I haven't played this game since October 2013, and I'm thinking of getting back into it. A few questions:

1. Did they add any real game changing features (not new Warframes, I know about those)?

2. Any hot poo poo new weapons that I should go for?

3. Rhino was my main Warframe when I played. Is he still good or did they nerf him again?

4. I was probably kicked out of the Goon clan for inactivity, any chance I would be let back in?

The Jumpoff

Your dad's in the Russian Mafia, that's the jumpoff!
Since there's a lot of talk about what is fun and what is useful, I'm going to list the frames that are useful and you should probably get eventually, and the frames that are (in my opinion) the most fun.

USEFUL FRAMES

Nova - Nova was basically the most overpowered frame in the entire game up until a few updates ago when they made changes to Molecular Prime. It's still good, and if you beef it up a whole bunch it'll still clear an entire room, it just won't do it quite as quickly now. However, those changes also made her incredibly useful for Infested Defense missions because if you max out an Overextended mod (which boosts range but decreases frame power), you can speed up enemies and make the waves go by ridiculously fast (and troll newbies with it).

Nekros - Nekros is useful for two situations, as stated above: Farming for mods/crafting materials, and survival missions. Otherwise, he has cool powers that are utterly utterly useless.

Rhino - Rhino is useful because Iron Skin, when used well (or not), can carry you through a lot of harder content due to being invincible, and Rhino Stomp is super useful for stunning enemies. Roar is also REALLY good when you need a quick damage boost.

Vauban - The King of Defense. Bastille stalls enemies, so does Vortex while consolidating them into a little pile for your Ogris/Penta/Angstrum/(insert murder machine here) to conveniently dispatch of them. Bounce is also nice for getting places AND for area denial on Interception missions, and Tesla can crash people's games so why wouldn't you spam it all over the place?

Frost/Frost Prime - Frost is useful for one ability, really: Snowglobe. It stops all incoming fire, and when an enemy enters it, they get slowed to a crawl, making them easy pickings for headshots. Otherwise, he's just...ok I guess? I've never used his 1 or 2, and Avalanche is your standard AoE damage spike.

Mag/Mag Prime - I'm only putting Mag in here because of Shield Polarize. An instant shield restore with a swish of your hand is nothing to scoff at, and it also drains enemy shields and deals damage back to them based on how much shield was drained. However her usefulness is easily outclassed by the usefulness of other frames.

Nyx - Nyx is useful due to Chaos, which causes monsters to start fighting one another, buying you valuable time to shoot them and secure the objective. Psychic Bolts are useless, though, Mind Control is fun, and Absorb has a lot of potential if you know how to use it.

FUN FRAMES

Ash - Ash is hilarious because you can paint him up like Deadpool, slap a Rush mod on him, and run around levels casting Bladestorm and watching cool animations of Grineer marines getting stabbed a whole bunch. Shuriken is also pretty good, and I actually like his teleport ability better than Loki's because of it's better offensive use. He's also pretty tanky for a stealth frame.

Hydroid - If you are not talking like a pirate and yelling "RELEASE THE KRAKEN" every time you use Tentacle Swarm with Hydroid, you might wanna get your fun glands checked. Tempest Barrage can also get pretty good (for a one ability) if you mod correctly, but seriously it's all about Tentacle Swarm here.

Ember/Ember Prime - As someone said, running around levels, constantly blasting World on Fire while everything combusts around you is AMAZING the first time you do it. Unfortunately she is not her old self, but she stills holds a very fond place in my heart.

Nova - Nova is fun for the same reason she's useful : Blowing up entire rooms of enemies. Antimatter Drop is also especially good if you know how to use it, capable of nuking a point for hilarious amounts of damage. Seriously, if you can go farm Raptor, Nova is worth getting.

Mag/Mag Prime - Spamming Pull as you fly across the map (especially on lower level missions where spamming Pull will actually kill a loving enemy or two or fifty) is amazing if you can get Pull to cost 8 energy (which is entirely possible). There's also something about swishing your hand and watching en entire room of Mid-Level Corpus die thanks to Shield Polarize. Unfortunately, Mag is not quite as useful against Corpus as...

Volt - The amount of fun you can have with Volt might get exaggerated a bit by me, but holy gently caress I love Volt. Overload is AMAZING against Corpus, Speed is seriously one of the most useful rushing skills in the entire game, and Chain Lightning and Electric Shield are also pretty good. He's a seriously solid frame and the first time you clear a huge outdoor tile in five seconds flat thanks to Speed + A good Zoren Copter, you'll realize how useful he is for getting through maps quickly.

Rhino - Rhino is fun for the same reasons he's useful : Invincibility and stompin' dudes. 'Nuff said.

Zephyr - Everyone loves Birdframe. If you can farm up the 600 oxium required to build her, she's apparently hilarious amounts of fun to play (I don't have her and am therefore ill-equipped to write about how fun she is, but I've seen people play her and drat I want one), mostly thanks to her movement skills that open up new avenues of getting around maps quickly, and loving TORNADOES EVERYWHERE which can be used to grief pubbies by spreading the loot everywhere.

Of course, every frame is fun. From blasting dubstep with Banshee to slam dunking rooms of enemies with Oberon, to going SUPER FAST with Loki, there's maybe one or two frames in the game that I actively dislike playing. There's also not a single "bad" frame in the game. Some are just a lot more useful than others, and some are a lot lot lot more fun than others. It all depends on how you like to play. Sorry about all the words.

A few things to mention here:

1. Loot does not fly around anymore

2. Motherfucking tornados. Still best ability in the game.

3. She can become invincible for 20 or more seconds because literally everything misses her. Includes laserbeams and flamethrowers.

4. She has an ability that makes her jump high or - if she already is midair - let's her fly forward for a bit. Scales with power, makes you insanely fast. You can reach everything. I once beat a mastery test by flying outside the mastery test and lotus just went "yeah whatever you pass."

Tailwind scales with duration, not power. You want to build your zephyr for max duration (Continuity, constitution, whateverthefuckingcorruptedmodis, as this will give you ~50 second turbulances and tornadoes.

Mod for power efficiency and power strength. You'll be using him to keep everyone alive with the heal and repeatedly smash enemies into the ground with reckoning.

Pretty much anything oberon can do, someone else can do better. He's scheduled for an overhaul in the (near?) future because of this. It's pretty dumb that renewal doesn't heal sentinels (trinity's blessing does, or at least did. I haven't used her since the changes) and that desecrate is better at spawning health than reckoning.

If there's a few good things I can say about oberon, it's that he looks awesome and reckoning is pretty fun to watch. Still, if you just want to look good and ragdoll stuff around like an rear end in a top hat all the time (and why wouldn't you??), just get hydroid for now.

Living in paradise (only bombed once)
Rhino is still the god king of frames because there's no situation where he would be horrible at. It's down to having a power that makes you not die. The only thing better than this Shining Golden God is.... Rhino Prime, the Glistening Shiny Golden God. And if you managed to get the hat with the speed boost, he's the second fastest running frame in the game. The first is a fragile frame that relies on stealth. It's DE's balancing at its finest.

To newbies: the first thing you'll need to do is get a Braton. It makes shooting mans not as excruciatingly painful because MK-1 Braton and Lato is trash. You can kill poo poo much faster with your Skana. After you get the hang of the Foundry and making poo poo, you'll want to get the Karak, which is an upgrade over the Braton, and it makes you feel like you're a space military man who is also a ninja. It will last you until you get to higher rank and get the Soma. The rest of the god-tier weapons are either locked behind Clan Research or Void/Derelict farming. While there are multiple good secondaries, like Kunai and Hikou, Vasto, Magnus, available at the market (the god tiers are also locked behind Clan Research or random events). Don't bother with Aklato or the shotgun Strun unless you're swimming in credits and really want to get the mastery exp faster. Ask goons for basic essential mods.

As for melee, use whichever you think looks cool.

We did this to great success earlier, but for anyone still hunting for the Claws stance:

Bring a Nekros, Speednova, and a Radial Disarm Loki.

Fourth can be anything really, something with easy aoe damage like Ember or Banshee works well.

Head to a Grineer defense mission, we used Xini.

Speed everything up, disarm it so they all act like stupid infested and charge the pod, kill them quickly, profit.

Took us several runs, but we got it.

Might already be known by the vets, but it was new to me, and the newbie crew used it the other night to farm Grineer/Corpus defense quickly for various materials and mods. Claws stance just happened to fit perfectly as well :v:

The Angstrum is available from the market, and is one of the best secondaries in the game. It needs Argon Crystals, which are technically from the void, but that's a matter of doing one or two defense/survival missions.

Kinda depends on how you want to play him. Efficiency and power strength are a good starting point, and duration can either go up or down depending on how long you want Barrage and Tentacles to last and what kind of distance you want out of Tidal Surge.

If you want a laugh, play with a Vauban and pop your tentacles near a vortex with a bunch of enemies stuck in it.

Usual steam rules apply, wait for a flash/daily, if they don't show up, then buy on the last day.

I think pricewise they work out somewhere around a 50% off coupon that you can get from login, which moves the plat prices from 'haha what' to somewhat reasonable. Credit/xp booster time is nice if you're a newbie.

If they go to 75%+ off in a flash sale, they're definitely worth it if you want to burn money buy sweet paint for your space ninjas.
