I decided to make some slight changes, having monitors slightly more centered so I don't have to turn my head makes a big difference. I moved my tower off the desk itself onto the computer cart.

Mackie MR5mk2's. I got them at a sale from Guitar Center for like $125 a piece.

They're being controlled by Focusrite Scarlett 2i2.

Not even a bit. 1366×768 is the desktop version of 1366×768. Becoming more common.

1680×1050 is fairly hard to get these days, so in no way compares.

The color temperature of the photo, or the monitor itself? For the monitor, we're probably just seeing color shift since we're looking at it off-axis and it's a TN panel.

Woot.com has the Gladiator 66.5-Inch Bamboo Modular Workbench on sale today for $184.99, currently priced at $250 on Amazon. I remember some folks posting about using this brand as desks, though these legs look more suited to standing height. Still the price discount should be enough to offset buying your own adjustable legs if the height is a no go.

If I'm doing that thing where I make a desk from two file cabinets and a random slab will a piece of that triple plywood from home depot be sturdy enough? My monitor weighs like 50 pounds and if this thing starts drooping from the weight I'll kill myself

If my infrequent visits to Home Depot are the norm, the guys that work there will be pretty darn helpful in answering that question, or recommend a type of rope to hang yourself with.

I'm unaware of the thing, but using my imagination its probably going to depend on how far apart the file cabinets are. I don't know if you mean 3 sheets of plywood or just 1 sheet of plywood (which typically looks like 3 layers in it). You could always just screw together two if its not stiff enough, or screw a length of 2x4 on the bottomside to keep that section from bowing.

As for your average piece of plywood though, yes I can only imagine it will droop in the middle a bit without doing the above. Plywood with three small layers is like 1/4 inch or so

I don't know why the exact weight is, but I have this set up with 2 monitors, 2 laptops, speakers, and the assorted mice/keyboards associated with all of the above on it without any visible bend.

Using 3/4" play, you don't want your space any more than 3-4 feet apart or it will sage like a bastard. 1" and you can do more. Or when you are getting the plywood, get a piece of 2x4 the length of the gap you want, and screw it in underneath as a buttress. It'll help with the sagging.

The whole thing will be 3' x 4', not that big. The stuff I was planning on getting was the 3/4" stuff, they come in 4' x 8' sections so I could double that up to an inch and a half. I guess I could also put my monitor on the part that's directly on top of the cabinet too so it's not trying as hard as it can to split it in half.

I really wouldn't worry. That's not that big and that's pretty thick. If anything you can go low effort/lower weight and cut a strip off the excess plywood to make the brace described above. If you said 4'x8' and 1/4" then yeah you'd be boned.

Be careful when you put a 50 pound monitor on it. Depending on the footprint of the filing cabinets, there will be a few places I'm sure where dropping 50 lb on it will cause it to shift, flip, or slide and fall off. Mainly the edges

I ended up getting a 4' x 8' piece of 3/4" hard oak plywood and trimming it down to two 30" x 48" pieces, not sure whether I want to sand and paint both to make it twice as thick or make two separate ones or what. This stuff seems at least as sturdy as the cheap whatever-core stuff my other desk is made from and the dude there claimed it was thick enough to stand on. I've also still got two 1.5' x 4' scraps I can do something with if I'm ever feeling motivated enough. Thank god they cut it there or else I never would have been able to get it home with my tiny rear end car.

Yes people stand on plywood 3 times thinner every single day and depend their life on it. The chances of that breaking for what you're doing is almost impossible. It's in many ways much stronger than any particle board stuff you get for furniture. Just don't fall into your desk lol
