One day they will release the borg sphere as a playable ship to go with this setup and it will be fabulous.

At the moment, to around ~45k dilithium rather than the 25k or so it currently is. Cryptic's mentioned it's a bug due to the increase in sell value of the weapons, but they'll still be higher than when they started. :downs:

Don't get me wrong, it sounds hilarious. Haven't seen much on the craftable consoles, maybe the generic weapon type ones will be useful too.

360° beams almost make me want to play with non-tholian carriers again. Too bad the Atrox's boff layout still sucks (a secondary deflector would help, but I don't think it's getting one).

Holy poo poo that "free to wait" bullshit needs to die though. At least it should lower the price of zen a lot.

Does this mean a BFAW Escort with DBBs on the front and 360 Beams on the back might work now?

Hell, lets talk about those science ships that can't use cannons anyway but still had the turning for a dbb setup. Or even how much more awesome the vesta will be.

They clarified that the [arc] weapons are one per ship regardless of color. However with the cutting beam, the obelisk beam and an [arc] beam you can get pretty close to the dream of a DBB/Array Vesta.... if you wanted to do that for some reason.

On the topic of DBB, with the existence of the 360' beams is there a reason to not use DBB on sciscorts now? The Temporal ships could use the Temporal Warfare DBB, two AP DBB and the temporal torpedo... put a borg cutter, the obelisk beam and an [arc] beam on the back and be able to stack one damage type. Or is there another inherit property of DBB that makes them worse?

A while back someone was posting in a thread about how badly they wanted mk xii Aegis and dev popped into a thread to say that he'll be really interested in future previews. That's about it as far as confirmation goes but it seems extremely likely to me.

You could probably adapt this setup for a sci-ship:

Dammit, why must good things be stopped before they happen? Are the devs really not aware that dbb is near useless without a counterpart in the rear like dhcs have turrets? Ah well. As you point out though, you only need one arc array anyway to do a dbb setup on any sci boat.

On another dumb question page. I don't fathom the console to complete the set is worth 800 lobi, but what of the 3 piece obelisk set bonus? Looks like it makes all pets gain emergency powers and be equipped on any ship.

I thought the console was Obelisk only, but I obviously don't have one to test.

It is. Advanced Obelisk and, if you want, for some reason, it works on the base Obelisk too.

Like I said, I dunno if it is worth 800 lobi as it comes with the advanced obelisk found there. And thus I wanted to know if the richer people had tested it. The set is nice since the cost is spread over a weapon point (and for actual carriers, beams are used anyway), warp core (can hurt), and a console (possibly, especially when it appears this console is kind of useless outside of the 3set). Just wondering how powerful the pet's emergency powers are.

I suspect it's because they're just slapping [arc] on normal beam arrays rather than making true beam turrets, so they're overpowered for their arc.

Has anyone followed all the other rumors? Looks liek someone puts them together on the sto wiki. Vesta stats to be retouched (why, I don't know). I guess there is another expansion that will herald in season 10. I think we talked about that some though. Something about cardassians. Which makes sense as that little arc is one of the last of the terribles that hasn't been retouched.

One of the fun new ships is the possibility of the stargazer/constellation with a console that allows the ship to do the picard maneuver.

Look, that Picard maneuver was used like twice or something whereas the real one was used in every episode. :colbert:

And since I'm a giant nerd I already knew that it was a warp jump but that isn't funny.

Do you mean a Fed science ship or a Fed science character? Because a Fed sci character would probably be better in cruisers or escorts to start with and there are a number of options. Fed sci ships... eh, Fleet Nova's okayish if you can't afford Vesta or Temporal Science or Tholian.

There's also the fact that to do any science ship well it's quite the investment, so there aren't any decent 'cheap' options.

It's sufficiently Okay. It's very mobile and has good bonuses to defense (I'm pretty sure the engine's actually the only thing in the game that boosts Inertia) but the shield is kind of poo poo since it doesn't have the 10% energy damage resistance all the other endgame shields do and you're probably still better off with a fleet warp core. It's fun to play around with and I imagine the engines/deflector paired with a fleet core/shield would be fun on an already zippy ship but I can't see using the full set ever.

I'm sure someone will leap in to correct me though. :v:
