But that's basically the point of playing with the big world mod, it's to see all the crazy poo poo the modders have come up with over the years. Like, it's meant to be an unbalanced pile with terrible writing and barely functional content.

Hey Vorgen, do you have Imoen Romance installed?

I was tempted to install that in my BWP install but settled on Imoen Friendship instead. Was probably a good move.

So originally I was going to speed my way to Imoen to get her back in my party earning experience and getting not-lovely HP rolls ASAP, but apparently once you go down that road you can't get back to the main game until after the Underdark, right? How much of a disadvantage will she be at if I do all the sidequests and poo poo before I get her? I really don't know why I'm bothering since she's redundant since I'm already a Swashbuckler/Mage. Using a Longsword with Single-Weapon-Style. In a party with both Keldorn and Viconia. While romancing Neera. I may be the son of the God of Bad Decisions.

I was looking for something to play while watching soccer this weekend... Oh my god I am having so much fun again and its only BG1. Of course, I feel like it normally starts like that but ends up dragging on by the time I reach ToB. Which is probably why I've never actually beaten ToB. Anyway. Berserker half orc using halberds running with Imoen, Jahiera, Neera (wanted to try a new EE char), that paladin guy, Kivan. I think I'm going to drop the paladin wana be for Dorn. He seems fun.

What are the better choices for spells for a sorcerer? Mostly utility and buff spells or what? I'm going to have aerie in my party so I want to complement her repertoire.

Lots and lots of dakka. Let Aerie do the party buffing.

Sorcerer's more or less a marathon battle wizard, so in the absence of versatility I'd just go with direct damage as a main focus, with crowd control and single-target disabling at lower priority, and a handful of high-value buffs and utility spells (mirror image / improved haste / dispel magic / true sight / simulacra, etc) that every mage should have.

verybad posted:Actually, your plan wasn't that bad. Getting to level 2 isn't THAT difficult, especially as a mage since you can just mostly roll through levels ~1-5 with sleep. It's not worth doing it just for the familiar or identify spell, but for the access to mage only equipment though. The real downside to your plan is that you're not going to be able to pick a kit for your fighter class, but getting scroll casting and the ability to use wands is easily worth the trade-off. So by all means, pick a specialist mage class of your liking, roll stats for a fighter, get sleep + whatever (I recommend blind, it's op) as your first two spells, dual class when you have the chance and have fun. It honestly sounds like more trouble than it's worth, especially because I would want to carry it forward into BG2EE. Now toying with the idea of playing a blackguard; the benefits don't seem as baller as inquisitor, but the idea of playing an evil paladin and rolling with an all-evil crew is appealing. Do blackguards still get to wield the game-breaking paladin-exclusive sword in BG2 you guys always talk about?

They get an evil-equivalent version, but since there are few if any good-aligned enemies in the games it's comparatively bad.

Do blackguards still get to wield the game-breaking paladin-exclusive sword in BG2 you guys always talk about? Blackguards are more of a straightforward damage dealer than debuffer and if Divination spells and Dispel are covered by someone else, better than Inquisitor. Poison Weapon always does some damage and fucks up casters via spell interruption, works on ranged weapons, and can AoE poison with Arrows of Detonation. Aura of Despair ignores saves and debuffs enemy THAC0, damage, and AC. Can selfbuff with DUHM. And if you still want to use Carsomyr anyone with UAI will do, especially if they're a fighter/thief dual.

Somehow between forgetting to save for a while and re-doing a good bit of Firewine I seem to have forgotten the Ancient Armor. By now the area has reset. I'm willing to CLUA it in but: 1. Is there any way to check if it's somewhere in the game-world in my save? It's just possible I dropped it in a container or something (I've accidentally put gems and scrolls inside chests I was trying to loot before...) and I'd feel really dumb if I encountered it later, plus I'd rather avoid cheating if at all possible. 2. How long do areas last before they reset? I've heard that almost any container is safe storage (unless it's in an area that becomes inaccessible later, plus stuff like the candlekeep you go back to being actually a different area from at first), if that's not true please correct me.

As far as I know there isn't any way to check if a given item exists anywhere. The game only loads your current area (and sub-areas like individual houses in a town) and doesn't access distant areas. You might need to CLUA it. As far as I know every single chest, barrel, drawer, sarcophagus and spider pit is safe. Any container at all. Items are cleaned up off the floor after a few in-game days, but chests are never altered. There is a large chest just to the right of the entrance in the Friendly Arm that I've used for storage. I've also safely used clusters of barrels outside the Jovial Juggler on the streets of Beregost. The enhanced edition might be different, but I seriously doubt it.

area files are contained in the save game so you can use near infinity to have a look if its in a container.

I’ve been playing Baldur’s Gate 1 via the Baldur’s Gate Trilogy mod. I managed to make to Chapter 4, but I wanted some advice before I progressed any further. The character I created has these stats: code:
Regarding equipment, I switched Minsc’s weapon from the Two-Handed Sword to a pair of maces (since he has proficiencies with both the two weapon style and with maces). I also switched Jaheira’s equipment, giving her with a sling, rather than having her get into melee range with the quarterstaff. The hardest fight I’ve had so far is the one with Mulahey, because of the minions he spawns in, and the status effects he inflicts on the party. I finally managed to beat him by moving my party into a different part of the cave to keep all the minions from appearing at once, but I still had Khalid and Dynaheir die at the end of the fight and had to resurrect them. Is there anything I should do or change before moving forward to make things easier?

There is a new player in here so I am gonna spoil this End of Baldur's Gate 2, evil path questions: DSimpson's guide claims that getting REAL REAL MAD in conversation with Sarevok can lead to an additional +1 Strength on top of the +2 from the Wrath test entirely. Can anybody corroborate this? Evil poo poo in general in this game is documented like rear end so it's hard to confirm whether or not I should redo all of Suldanesselar to make up for my lazy quick saving and get that sweet STR bonus.

Is there a mod that (Shadows of Amn endgame spoilers, might as well keep with the trend)let's you get the bonuses from all the end game stuff in Soa when starting a new character in ToB, either letting you make each choice, or just a general "I took the Evil path/I took the Good path" thing. I've beaten SoA a couple of times but always give up halfway through ToB, and I'd like to beat it, but a bunch of those bonuses are good quality of life improvements when dealing with ToB content and I'm pretty sure if I start again from SoA I'll just give up halfway through.

I wish there was a mod to get the stats from bg1 stat books on a freshly made bg2 character mod. I really don't like BG1 at all so I have no desire to play it and just end up adding the stats in shadowkeeper.

I'm having a problem with custom portraits in the Steam versions of both BG1 and 2 EE. I've done all the regular stuff: made a "Portraits" folder in "/Me/Documents/Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition", they're properly-sized and named 24-bit bmps, but I still don't get a "Custom" button on the portrait selection screen.

So last night I killed the Bandit Camp in BG1. The first time I went into the main tent I got unlucky and died. Fine, reload, better setup, retry. I go in and accidentally immediately clicked my team out. ...Only to realize that they slowly trickle out to fight me, basically, one vs 6! HOW DID I NOT THINK OF THIS BEFORE?!
