I'm at WGT and have been reminded of just how ridiculous the people at goth festivals are This is a silly place edit: for example I just saw a dude with a haircut that can only be described with the word "coffee table" maybe these people don't take themselves as seriously as I thought a cyborg mug fucked around with this message at 17:42 on Jun 8, 2014 |

Thank you so much I had a lot of fun making that remix and I agree Mr. Kitty's album is amazing. I really love that album, so much so that I have a cover of Mr. Kitty's track Unstable coming out on my upcoming EP. I think Mr. Kitty is finishing up another album right now too. Omi-Polari posted:Also me and the merch guys in Austin demand II0I0I0II go on tour. There's good news on that front. I'm currently prepping for live shows, I've bought all the gear and I'm working on a set. I'm hoping to have everything set to play in 2015. Once again thank you so much for the kind words.

Ringo Deathstarr was all sorts of awesome. Just straight texas noise rock. Murphy's band was mostly playing on top of tracks. I'm not sure they really knew the songs. Murphy himself sang over his vocals and needed his lyrics set up on a little stand next to the mic so he knew what to sing. So I'm sure you can imagine the energy of a band kind of looking at each other sideways figuring out what key to be in while Murphy squints at some paper. I left after 4 songs. Crowd dug it though so maybe I'm just a big jerk. Gary Numan killing shows this year is not doing any favors to Murphy.

I saw Bauhaus a while back (2005, I think?). I was so excited to finally see them live, and it ended up being really disappointing. The whole band, with the exception of maybe Daniel Ash (he didn't appear to be entirely bored out of his skull), looked half asleep throughout the entire thing. It was obvious they just didn't want to be there. I saw Kraftwerk around the same time, and they put on a more lively show. I can only imagine what Murphy is like these days.

It's all live, the band appears into it, with some awesome violin thrown in. Murphy had his lyrics stand on the stage, but didn't look at it and discarded it after the first song. He's been solid. That said, it's just not as great a show as Numan was.

Neo-tribal/ Middle Eastern influenced music is the order of the day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKmwRle-FVQ Geomatic - Serpent's Tooth. The vocals on this are pretty heavily treated, and it's more lyric as instrument to my mind, but I haven't listened enough to actually understand them yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhdjQPu0x0o Another Geomatic video that reminds me a lot of earlier 242 videos in some way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoGV2XUjWcs Na-Hag. Excellent dark tribal. Reminds me a lot of Bill Leeb's Delerium side project back in the good old days : Crushing drums and baselines with light, acrobatic rhythms.

Omi-Polari posted:the samples from the next Blutengel album sound pretty tasty. Thanks for the link, hadn't seen this! Cool stuff, I'm happy he's doing more German songs again. Appears Chris Pohl also has a new project coming out, called The Lonely Soul Experience, inspired by neo-classical fantasy film and RPG soundtracks. The trailer looks pretty dated but the music is neat. I still can't get over how insanely talented Pohl is. Seems he can do just about anything he wants to, from absurdly catchy pop songs to weird soundscapes or metal (Terminal Choice) to dumb stompy club stuff (Miss Construction) to, apparently now, symphonic music What kind of a vampire do you have to kill to gain these kinds of powers a cyborg mug fucked around with this message at 04:57 on Jul 3, 2014 |

I am not quite sure what it is about this year and 80s bands giving their poo poo another go (Gary Numan's new album comes to mind) but Information Society also looks to be on this list. This is shaping up to be a magnificent reboot. (reboot? I guess.
