Have you people looked at how expensive the season 3 blu-ray is!

Judging from the commentaries, I hope Doc Hammer was just given one because he probably can't afford one.

It's 18 dollars on Amazon.

That or the music when Hank grabs the prop sword and shambles down the hall to kill Doc in Assassinanny 911, which I just watched.

If you liked that you owe it to yourself to listen to "The End" by the doors which the VB song is a riff on. Or for that matter watch Apocalypse Now which that entire scene is a riff on.

Oddly enough, I think the "Father- yes son- I want to kill you" joke is the one I've had to explain to the most other people in the whole show. Although it might be 'Here come the warm jets' if that had happened earlier in the series.

Well, as regards the schtick of *fanfare* LOUD DRAMATIC DECLAMATION *smash to silence* refined effeteness and references to his Pumpkin ...

I will say they kind of had a tough bridge to cross. In S1 it was a bombastic and fun gag, but it had the potential to get old real fast. Keeping him around for later seasons meant they had to tone it back and keep it from being schtick, which isn't an easy thing to pull off with a character whose premise is so vividly defined.

The "What the gently caress is that thing" is without a doubt my favorite delivery in the entire series thus far. Everytime I watch the episode, I reduced to a laughing wreck by that line. Thanks for the link.

And the little musical cue that comes in right after is a short piece of the melody from one of the album's tracks.

I know they namedrop him as Eon, as well as that Warm Jets joke, but I don't remember if he's shown on screen. So it's probably Brian Eno?

Speaking of jets, and thus airplanes, my girlfriend is watching VB for the first time, and it took all my restraint to not say "single engine Cessna" with the perfect timing to confuse her forever when that scene came on.

Based on what Brian Eno looks like now, its hard to imagine its the same guy.

One of my favorite lines ever in the show is from the first episode, just 24s "dude that sucked!" after they take down Brock.

Pre-Upfront News: New Venture Bros. Special

Even more Upfront news has been thrown out to us this morning. Titmouse is partnering up with Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick to bring us another awesome Venture Bros. special later this year. Here’s the haps:

THE VENTURE BROS. SPECIAL - Space. The final frontier, where no one can hear you scream, revenge is only served cold, and the drinks are comped in the casino. Join the Ventures–and pretty much everyone they’ve ever crossed paths with–as they rocket to the Gargantua-2 space station for an epic, hour-long adventure that will change the Ventureverse as we know it forever. Created and directed by Jackson Publick and written by Publick and Doc Hammer, both of whom also provide voices for the special, The Venture Bros. Special is being animated by Titmouse, Inc. The half-hour animated special premieres on Adult Swim later this year.

If I had to speculate, this seems like it’s going to bridge seasons 5 and 6 together. Remember, at the beginning of S5, Jonas Jr. was hard at work on Gargantua-2 and needed Rusty’s help (which lead to Project: Palaemon (and we haven’t heard anything since).

Adult Swim puts them online, generally, so maybe it'll be put up this week sometime. Weird that there's no blog coverage or anything, though.

Much of the panel was a hilarious blur to me, but one thing stood out for some unknown reason. Someone asked what would've happened if the orb had been activated, and they never bothered to think of what it would do so Doc Hammer talked for 5 minutes straight about how he believes it would make everyone in the world pee themselves just a little bit, and fashion would shift to accommodate people having a little bit of pee on their pants.

They were apparently available at Comic-Con as a limited run, but are expected to be more widely available in the future.

I searched twitter and found something from the panel, check out the first pic on this random guy's tumblr: http://t.co/FO56SIH3pw

It looks like Dr. Venture with a mask on, and the text could be referencing Sergeant Hatred or Brock, but who knows. I know Jackson and Doc don't like giving away plot points ahead of time which is understandable. The long wait between seasons is rough though, but at least there's that special later this year.
