Season 5 of Game of Thrones debuts Sunday, April 12, 2015! You know the rules by now. This is the Unsullied thread for people who haven't read the books. So no bookchat, although if its any consolation, the show is getting very close to catching up with the books at this point, at least until GRRM finishes the Winds of Winter. he won't If you're absolutely dying to know, any questions about the books can be sent by PM to Toast Museum Revenant Threshold Ballz Carlton Banks Teller Max The Kawaiiest Hedrigall SEASON 5 TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDb4sJVK2wU Don't read the comments. SEASON 5 TRAILER ANIGIF ANALYSIS! Some remarks and speculation in that link may be considered a touch spoilery, especially if you're the spergin' type. SEASON 5 CASTING/SHOOTING INFO FOLLOWS Comic-Con Casting Announcement! Doran Martell - Alexander Siddig (Star Trek: Deep Space 9) Ruler of Dorne and Oberyn Martell's gouty big brother. Trystane Martell - Toby Sebastian (After the Dark) Doran's son, heir to Dorne and betrothed to Myrcella Baratheon thanks to some savvy politicking by Tyrion back in season 2. Myrcella Baratheon - Nell Tiger Free (Mr. Stink) A recast of Cersei's only daughter, who was played by Aimee Richardson in seasons 1 and 2. No crown for you, Aimee! Obara Sand - Keisha Castle-Hughes (Whale Rider) The eldest of Oberyn Martell's bastard daughters, better known as the Sand Snakes. Oberyn told Cersei he has 8 daughters total, and we'll be seeing at least 3 of them in season 5. Other Sand Snakes include... Nymeria "Nym" Sand - Jessica Henwick (Spirit Warriors) The second oldest Sand Snake. Her mother was a noblewoman from Essos. Tyene Sand - Rosabell Laurenti Sellers (The Whistleblower) She's a fan of daggers, apparently. Areo Hotah - DeObia Oparei (Doom) Doran's captain of the guards, wields a big loving longaxe. Yezzan - Enzo Cilenti (Next) A wealthy slave trader from Slaver's Bay. High Sparrow - Jonathan Pryce (Brazil) Radically devout follower of the Seven, he has amassed a large following among the smallfolk. Septa Unella - Hannah Waddingham (Les Misérables) A septa serving the Faith of the Seven. As a member of the Most Devout, the highest ranking clergy, she enforces strict adherence to her religion's laws. Lil' Cersei Lannister - Nell Williams (The Revolting World of Stanley Brown) Coming Soon: Jim Henson's Game of Thrones Babies Ghita - Hattie Gotobed (Snow White and the Huntsman) Competing with Nell Tiger Free for most made-the-gently caress-up-name award. Malko - Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Lost) Show-only character, no info is known. He's kind of on the same tier of actor as say, Burn "the fookin' legend" Gorman, so whoever Malko is, I doubt it'll be a mere cameo or extra. Loboda - Zahary Baharov (The Way Back) A wildling, might be a Thenn given his bald head. Seen in the first S5 trailer wielding an axe. Unknown Wildling - Birgitte Hjort Sørensen (Borgen) Like Loboda, another wildling featured in a preview trailer. Her character name hasn't been released yet, but based on her acting pedigree, it's doubtful she's an extra. Rattleshirt - Ross O’Hennessy (Da Vinci's Demons) Yet another recast, but c'mon, like you even remember what Rattleshirt looks like without the giant skull on. Denys Mallister - J.J. Murphy (Angela's Ashes) And now his Watch is ended. D&D say they will not recast him, but it's unclear if they'll just cut his part out altogether. Bowen Marsh - Michael Condron (The Tudors) First Steward of the Night's Watch. Definitely not this guy. Maggy the Frog - Jodhi May (Last of the Mohicans) Not as frog-like as you would think. Melara Hetherspoon - Isabella Steinbarth (Cuban Fury) That's the character's name in the b**ks, it's always possible it'll change in the show. Master (Maester?) Eaton - Gianpiero Cognoli (The Northern Paradigm) No clue. Merchant Captain - Gary Pillai His name is probably the extent of his character. "Military officer" - Derek Lord (High Road) We only know he's on the show because he broke his wrist while filming. And a whole bunch of glorified extras. SEASON 5 FLIMING It looks like shooting officially began around July 20th as pink "GOT" signs went up near Ireland's Scrabo Tower. Scrabo Tower would be a new location, but it looks pretty fitting for the show. The final bit of shooting came to an end in early December, so now the long wait until April begins. HBO is doing some real gimmicky thing in teasing new footage, where you sign up to receive "the sight" from the 3-eyed raven. What it means is you MIGHT get a message that has a 10-second video that shows maybe all of three frames of new content. Fascinating. In other news, for season 5 Spain becomes the latest country to represent the lands of Westeros and Essos. Croatia, UK and some minimal filming in Iceland are also confirmed. If you've been following the fan sites, you've probably seen a ton of leaked photos that spoil things to varying degrees. Below are a handful of set/scenery pics to wet your whistle! Alcázar of Seville in Seville, Spain is being used to represent Dorne. Wikipedia has more pics showing off this gorgeous palace. A bullfighting ring in Osuna, Spain, is being used in Season 5. The part of the Mountain will be played by no less than 7 actors, 3 puppets and an Lucas-esque CGI monstrosity. There will be no continuity of portrayal and the Mountain will be played by multiple entities in individual episodes and even in individual scenes.

Love the title because this is by far my favorite pairing so far in the series. So Pod's probably going to have his head ripped off by a White Walker while Brienne is eaten by a dragon in the first episode of next season probably.

So near the end, when Varys hears the alarms sounding in the distance and gets on the ship himself, was that because he figured he would be blamed for Tywin's death and was getting out of dodge while he had the chance?

Everyone will have probably figured out that Tyrion killed Tywin, but if Varys just shows up out of the blue from gods-know-where after the alarm has already been sounded he'll look guilty as hell. I assume his original plan was to get Tyrion out quietly and return, but Tyrion hosed that plan up when he killed Tywin.

Your interpretation is correct. From season 2, Varys knows ringing bells are a bad thing, as they sound for the death of a king, sieges or weddings. So the bells here were most certainly for the acting regent. And having the bells change Varys' decision is a call-back to that Blackwater scene. That is effective story-telling.

The Wildlings should be a Pinot Grigio that grows in the cold, high elevations and the Nightswatch should be a blend for obvious reasons. We need some Master Somm who is a huge map nerd to redo this. If anyone has seen SOMM I think Ian Cauble is the perfect obsessive nerd to do it.

Thanks. I'm rewatching the episode because I was at the end of the climb already and someone had remarked about it in either this or an earlier thread. I was just wondering because I thought she had told Melisandre it. All I know after 15 minutes into 3x07 is that I wish King Robert and Tormund had at some point met and just sat around drinking and talking about loving things.
