Don't hosts sometimes retain the rights to their content? I wonder if Anthony has any grounds to not let them replay his material ever again.

I doubt it, but that'd be hilarious.

I can't see them leaving SXM unless it really doesn't work out without Ant. They make a lot of money to talk on the radio, and unless SXM really snubs them with the contract renewal I think they'll probably continue to do so.

Does Ant being fired prevent him from being a guest on the show? Hypothetically, could Ant be employed by Opie to work on the show? Not that it'd ever happen, of course.

I imagine they probably will be offered new contracts if they want them, I doubt they will be as big as they get now maybe Jimmy will get a little bump up, but I would think Opie might go down a bit. Will they still retain the channel though? I imagine them being shipped off on to Raw Dog or something. Opie and Jim certainly wouldn't seem to be worthy of a channel on their own and the premium subscription that carries.

I can't imagine how loving utterly pissed off Opie and Jimmy must be with all of this. Their idiot friend/business partner/co-host blew up not just his, but also potentially their, multi-million dollar contract over a drunken meltdown on twitter.

Add on top the awful, reactionary fans calling them traitors for not immediately breaching their contracts in some sort of misguided display of unity.

My favorite O and A bit was when Anthony was creep shotting in Times Square, was called out on it, beaten, and proceeded to go on a racist rant on Twitter which cost him his job.

Pretty much never.

Some times people buy the tapes back (Stern) or license the material out (Ron & Ron Radio Network) but, for the most part, the broadcasting company owns the rights.

My favorite O&A bit is any time religion comes up and Jimmy jumps into ranting about how ridiculous religion is. A WOMAN ACTED UP, SO GOD TURNED HER INTO A PILE OF SALT. THAT'S REALISTIC. Also, any time bashing Jesse Ventura seems appropriate. THERMITE PAINT!

I still have the same O&A names and artwork on the Android app as of a few seconds ago. I've been dreading seeing the "downloading new content" message when the app starts, that channel's screen has become so familiar to me over the last few years.

nah it's probably not a placeholder since they know renaming it "Grim in the morning" wouldn't matter in the likelihood that Opie and Jim leave in October. "SiriusXM Talk", as generic and awful as that is, will take them from now until whenever they get a show more permanent.

Ugh...are things like wiffle ball bat and gallon of milk challenge the types of things that made O&A popular? Obviously, most of us being haters, I'm probably in the minority, but their biggest strength was finding humor in all things: whether it be serious/sensitive/offensive topics (The hallmark cancer cards), news, other radio stations, and just random topics that would come up from callers or the hosts themselves.

To center a podcast on 90's era stunt bits (Turd?!)...I guess even Anthony's comedic sharpness has got to dull at some point. :smith:

I was always a fan of them just shooting the poo poo with guests or themselves, riffing headlines. Those were always they things I enjoyed. There does seem to be a core audience that never grew up from the nineties and still thinks that poo poo is funny ... and I think that's why I tend to avoid the actual O&A community altogether.
