It shows great digging skills, solid beat matching skills (even when tempos/swings are off a bit on wonky old presets) and how to mesh them. This goes back to even Nat King Cole, where he would pepper in certain known compositions for like 2 or 4 bars, just to keep his audience tied in with the obscurity of it all, rather than stringing together whole compositions. A good example I think (while not italo at all, but just technically) is breakbot's-dance on glass. Really no one reference goes for more than 16 bars. But it shows what you can do. Again I really like this mix. It was a bit of a sausage fest, but it seems worse on camera because most girls stood off camera. But it's a fun concept run by a local crew. They organize one a month and they stream it live on the web and afterwards the sets are made available through Vimeo/Youtube. It's invite only and you have to be in within the first hour of the event, so it's always full even if you're the first one up. Plus they have found a local brewery to sponsor them, so they offer free beer & soda for their guests. http://higgslive.com/

Little Mike and I were asked to do a "Slow Your Roll" set at this year's Altitude Anonymous festival held last weekend at Copper Mountain, Colorado. We played for two hours at the top of the American Eagle chairlift to gorgeous mountain overlooks.
