I think the GC will mark each other but I doubt any of them will try something that far out from the line, everyones mind will be on tomorrow's mountain top finish.

Agreed, when I saw the long descent I thought he'd be off but theres still 20kms of flat to finish on and I dont think he'd want to put the effort in after the climbs.

There will be no attacks from GC contenders today, but I hope someone cool wins from a breakaway.

e; anyone other than Voeckler really, I can't stand the sight of him gurning away.

Sagan to try something on the descent?

Mr.Nice
Apr 28, 2006
Tony Martin (OP-QS) et Alessandro De Marchi (Cannondale) with 20 sec lead over the peloton.

The peloton isn't supposed to control this stage but if they manage to keep a small break like then things could be different and some attacks from GC riders are possible, someone like Talansky who need to regain time lost yesterday for example.

I can't see it. I reckon Sagan will take it easy for a few days, people aren't going to let him get away easily enough to put in decent time on a day like today.

I just want to see a Europcar rider just go for it after the final climb and ultimately get reeled in with 300 meters to go.

They've got 5 riders in the chasing group, outlook: great

Breakaway is hosed since Gallopin is a part of it, he's only 3:27 behind Nibali

If Cancellara gets over the last climb I think he'll go for it

That's a very big ask for today with 6 of them

Mr.Nice

The group with Gallopin currently have +3'50" over the peloton, he is the virtual new yellow jersey, with 28 riders in that group, it's not certain Astana can get the time back in the final.

Would they mind giving up yellow to someone that's not a real threat? They might not try that hard.

I had a video of that when I was about 6.

I remember it being shit.

Grimey Drawer
Didn't the team manager say a few days ago that it would probably be better for them to give it up soon?

Mr.Nice
Apr 28, 2006
There was talk about transferring the jersey to Fuglsang so Nibali could avoid the daily press conference etc but Astana probably won't mind giving the jersey to Gallopin. Tony need to manage the cat.1 climb well and stick with the best of his group for the flat.

He was tipped as a possible GC contender when he first started, though he specialised in TT he can climb well as he showed in the TdS this year.

The wet roads will harm the people chasing him on the descent and I think hes got the legs to burn the last 20km on the flat and hopefully stay ahead.

So much better having a chill fratty team like Astana in yellow. If Sky had it we'd be watching Christian Knees or whoever driving a boring procession up these climbs ensuring nobody gets off the front or has any fun.

Nah you're holding the bars much closer together so have much less control over the front wheel.
