I couldn't help but notice everyone's focusing on Shore Leave, and.. erm... ignoring the Grand Inquisitor.

It must be a massive pain in the rear end to reload two one-hand crossbows every time, so you'd better kill whatever you're aiming at.

Drop one and reload the other, yeah, you're down to one crossbow at that point, but you still got one more shot in than schmoes with just one measly crossbow.

That's the Demon hunter from Diablo 3, where the crossbows magically reload themselves!

I guess "magic" also explains why foldy limbs can produce enough poundage to be useful. And fold out while the bow is loaded (and presumably under tension).

Blizzard shoulda just gone with something like the ethereal crossbow from Heretic. That thing was bad-rear end. If you're going to go magical crossbow, go all out.

Yes, the crossbows are the unrealistic part of the game about magic, demons, and enchanted weapons.

I don't think they actually fold in the game. Not that I've noticed, at least.

Almost every time I see these Arya cosplays I stare at it and go 'yeah ok so that's Maisie Williams, how's that count as cosplay?' Then I have to google her and it's like a spot the difference game.

Almost always the eyebrows or the nose, and not by much.

Edit: That price robot is awesome. and the one piece

There's already a little kid in that picture, so I hope it wasn't accurate to the comics.

It looks like the convention center, so it probably is Charlotte. But yeah this was much better in person. My buddy was cosplaying, so I'll ask if I can share his pics.

It's a space opera/fantasy comic series that's pretty much just Twilight meets Romeo and Juliet for uber-nerds.

That said it's well drawn and the writer isn't terrible

I see Romeo and Juliet but Twilight?

And Brian K. Vaughn is one of the better working comics writers out there. Even when he wiffs (Y: The Last Man's ending) he still puts out a more original project than the vast majority of his peers. It still sucks that his work on Runaways is all but buried and forgotten.

Crap, is Y's ending lovely? I've been buying editions periodically as I come across them and I really dig it so far.

There's varying opinions but the average is that it wasn't a great ending by a wide margin, and that the final explanation for why all the Y-chromosome mammals died is very unsatisfying and bullshit-y for a book so rooted in real world factoids and science.

No lie though it's a fun ride for the most part. Agent 355 is great and the amount of variety that comes just from exploring the premise to its logical conclusions (Australia is the world's new naval superpower because they were the only ones to let women on ships? Makes sense), but yeah it does kind-of lose it in the end.

Erebus
Jul 13, 2001

Okay... Keep your head, Steve boy...

There was no explanation that was going to make sense for why all the male mammals in the world suddenly dropped dead simultaneously. If you read it not expecting any bombshell in that department it's fine, and the story doesn't really need an explanation to work.
