Thankfully not so much that it'll make a Battle Gal terrible. The advantage of the battle gal is having a health tank so ridiculously huge you can tank 4 flak maxes and still get away to repair and that G2A launchers might as well not bother.

Still I guess I will miss the Bulldog being the bullshit it currently is, sticking them on Sundys and deploying with line of sight on an infantry lane was a great way to get some certs when a Battle Gal wasn't up.

The Reaver was originally poo poo until the afterburner buff and the rotary nerf (which came with a Reaver base gun buff), and the crosshair fix helped too, and the AH was poo poo, got buffed, and people started using it, prompting a series of incremental nerfs ever since.

You should also advertise that this is prolly one of the best threads in games and you can argue with pros.

ESF test should be:

- Hover uses AB fuel, no fuel reverts to straight flight
- Only 1 weapon allowed
- Tweak all weapons to create a clear difference between them all

It would be cool to see the default guns changed to a cannon type slow RoF weapon like the mass drivers. Making you choose between a nose gun and rocket pods would literally fix the air problem in an instant, sure you'd lose your rocket pod reaver if a dedicated A2A scythe came up on you but that was the decision you made just like choosing an AP MBT will eat a non AP MBT. I'd love to see the current A2A merged with the coyote so you get 3-4 weaker missiles that you can lock on and shoot at greater ranges while the coyotes are really short ranged.

Coming to a consensus literally changes the game, when theres 20 vocal people shouting about different things no one hears anything but when all of the sudden those 20 people start shouting about the same thing everyone notices even when theres 100 people shouting about different things. It may seem retarded yelling about game balance where the devs most likely rarely if ever look but if they do look and everyone is in lock step about something they'll take notice.

The issue with the base redesigns is they're still loving terrible and a lot of the best setpieces can't be used because they stupidly put them across wide-open courtyards. The Ascent on Amerish is a good example of this, has a neat cavern area but whoops, defenders have to leave an easily-campable tower and cross a road to get into the loving cave. Rockslide Overlook (I think it's Rockslide) has a cavern area that's directly accessible by teleporter, but they put a giant ramp that a Lightning can get down into and shell the underground area from. A number of bases on Hossin have spawns that are open to vehicles to prevent defenders from even getting to the cool infantry gameplay areas they've designed. And as everyone knows, the walls on Esamir don't work because the bases are surrounded by hills to shell from and Liberators don't give a poo poo about walls.

There are some really cool bases in the game that are mostly ruined by baffling and stupid design decisions. The Ziggurat is a loving awesome concept but is too open (yet the AI turrets are ironically too closed-off, precisely to protect them from being shelled to death by vehicles). About the only base that properly stratifies the infantry/vehicle combat in a way that's reminiscent of Planetside 1 is Subterranean Nanite Analysis, and that base is kind of a clusterfuck (a good kind, but probably not the most well-designed base).

They have some amazing level design work going on that they keep ruining by either making bases grossly attacker-favoring (so defenders can't defend) or grossly campable by vehicles. If planes and tanks were just turned off for a night, some of those bases would be incredible for infantry fights. But you can't do that, so...

I agree that they've made some bad decisions with regards to initial spawns but you've got to give them a little credit for trying. Almost every base in this game has been overhauled and revamped with what they're learning about huge battles and how they flow. Remember the original design of Quartz Ridge? It was a single point base with just a two story surrounded by some rocks and a vech pad with the cap point out in the open. Then it turned into a 4 point walled fortress that protected a new road from HVAR to Indar Ex but it was still wide open to Lib spam. Now its the giant mega complex that we have now with enclosed infantry spaces mixed with open areas.

Building a 64km map that flows and is fun is tough. It seems like everyone loves to poo poo on the map designers even though they're working in basically uncharted territory for map design. Sure they've made some serious mistakes but they've shown a willingness to listen and improve their designs steadily over time.

It doesn't help that tr pubbies are some of the worst I've seen in any game I've ever played. I've stopped playing smg infiltrator while in K0TH because I'd fire out recon darts all day long and not get a single motion detect xp. It was just too depressing.

The worst part is that these morons are being spoiled with the absolute best, most ridiculous, sheer bullshit guns in the game. I was in a platoon the other day that spent a good 20 minutes complaining about how the TORQ is "bad".

Don't I know it, and don't get me started. I loved playing TR. She's my highest BR character, she has the most certs I've ever had, and the most auraxed guns I've ever had. I can actually aim well with TR guns, and I can achieve a level of accuracy I just *cannot* get with VS/NC guns. Seriously NC guns feel like they fire in slow motion on a Wyoming winter night how the gently caress does anyone hit poo poo with these?

Anyway the point is the TR have literally the finest infantry guns Auraxis has to offer, but the community and playerbase the faction attracts are completely insufferable. They are bad on a level I've never seen ever in a game and have the balls to blame it on VS guns being superior with their zero bullet drop and laser accuracy (granted, VS guns are pretty accurate), or the NC having all the 200 damage guns.

If only the TR wasn't so loving bad :smith:

Oh no, you misunderstand me. My frustration is they clearly do try so hard, and do put so much effort into improving and coming up with great ideas... and then accidentally do one thing that ruins all of it. Most of these bases are by no means unsalvageable. Take The Ascent: Add more jump pads to the top floor of the tower, make all the jump pads defender-side-locked (like the ones in Amp Stations; this already exists), add a few more teleports. Done. Same thing with Hossin bases, more defender-only jump pads, one or two additional teleporters. Or tunnels, those are cool. Most bases on Amerish or Hossin can be fixed, it's just frustrating how they came so close to getting them perfect on the first try after multiple revamps taught them what does and doesn't work.

But at least they're fixable.

The only legitimate issues with the TORQ are:
  • Lower tier of bullet damage is punished by Nanoweave harder than the Cycler is and reduces the damage per magazine.
  • Hit detection/lag issues eating bullets seem to hurt guns with very high and very low RPM more than guns in the 600-750 RPM range.
  • You might get too accustomed to using it and lose your ability to control recoil on guns that actually have it.

I had an excellently placed Sunderer in a huge cohesive push, was on a 4 kill streak, and for the first time ever got randomly disconnected. My Internet didn't drop or anything Higby just doesn't want me to be happy. :soe:
