Usagi is clearly different (and I can definitely hear the VA's "standard" voice in it), but it gets better as the clip goes on I think.

Ahh, the takarazuka magazine. Rei would've LOVED La Reconquista with its all-lady cast. Er, apart from the fact that Rei is a character in La Reconquista. That version of Rei there, 90s anime Michie Tomizawa Rei, would've loved La Reconquista. There, I feel better. If you want uncut OG Sailor Moon, you gotta redub it, them's the breaks. Bunhead works better than meatball head as localizations go, though we will all miss the meatballs.

Actual contribution: Luna's previous English voice was completely unsuited for the character, but this new one sounds too normal. The Japanese voice still had a little bit of "not human" quality to it, even if it was way younger than the English one; this new one sounds like any one of the girls, and there's nothing that stands out about it. But maybe that's just my weird retarded ears.

Luna's old voice is literally the only one I'm capable of remembering at all, but that's not why it's SUPER WEIRD to hear Michelle Ruff in Sailor Moon. It's because having a mental connection between "Disgaea/Persona" and "thing I haven't seen since I was 7" is bizarre. But it's a better clip than the other one and it's not like I'm going to watch it anyway so

Wow, the animation in this episode was...pretty bad. If this was a weekly show, I don't think I'd be so disappointed, but waiting every 2 weeks for this level of animation is frustrating. That said, Ami was cute in this episode  And following the pace of the manga is a lot better than the original anime's pacing.

This might be colored by me wanting to like it so much and the fact that it's my favorite character, but I thought it was an improvement over the first episode. There certainly were some sketchy animation issues (Ami's introduction comes to mind, her expression was the same for a few seconds and it didn't look so hot) but to me it felt like they improved on some things. Usagi seemed more expressive too when she was talking to Mamoru. It also seemed like they took it up a notch when the fighting started and I hope they can continue to not really use stock footage for attacks. I'm also kinda dreading when they introduce her computer, because it's going to end up pushing me over the edge on ordering one of those cases for my 3DS.

I thought this episode was pretty good. To me, Ami has always been the weak character of the senshi, so her having some nice early character moments beyond "oh, she's really smart and good at everything" was nice. Looking forward to the next episode!

So crunchyroll cut out the next episode preview again. But its pretty obvious next episode will be Sailor Mars' Debut. I imagine once episode 4 comes up we'll know for sure if we're getting a 1:1 adaptation or not. As for this episode, not bad. I like the new voice for Mercury, but there's still lots of weird perspectives and overall QUALITY shots. And the subtitles are still iffy in translation. Next episode will hopefully improve on that.
