Mad Men is only bad when it focuses on Betty

I thought that Betty was the one of the best things about the first few seasons, showing the stunted effects of the 50's era housewife ideal, and there were some rough stuff with her in the middle seasons, but I like where they ended up with her. A little wiser, but very much the same as she used to be. Not every character has to be completely sympathetic to be interesting.

It's an interesting character but I think January Jones is a really bad actress so it made watching her scenes painful.

Eh, different strokes and all that, but for what Betty is supposed to be, she's perfect. She has an extremely narrow range, but I think the later episodes, especially with Don (after they reconciled, sort of), are some of the most interesting stuff on the show.

BTW, just finished a rewatch before catching the latest season, which I LOVED. I don't know what I'll do with myself after next season. Spend time...outside???

I think its more a case of the writers writing to her strengths than it is Jones being perfect for the part. We probably see in Megan what we would have seen in Betty if January Jones was actually able to pull off more than zero emotions.

Not necessarily TV. A couple of weeks ago I made a couple of people sync-watch the film "Detention" with me, which is...it's a movie, I'll tell you.

It kind of is compared to 'declaring you don't like it'. I'm not going to go around thinking people are total jerks irl for it or anything, but saying objectively "this show is bad" is definitely a more assholish way to present an opinion than is necessary. Of course tons of people do it anyway so w/e

Someone just needs to finally create a thread for it. I found it decent as well. Plays like Blade II without Blade, then throw in some Outbreak.

It had some nice Guillermo trademarks in it; I'm kinda worried it's going to be one of those things where the big name headlining the show goes on to do something else a few episodes in, though.

Without GdT, it's probably going to be pretty pedestrian.

She also got fired/killed on the show because reportedly she refused to sleep with a producer. Which you think would cause a bigger stink on the show or something.
