Just finished my first actually painted tyranids Not a good painter by any standards but I'm proud to actually get paint to plastic. It's for a goofy escalation tourney starting at 500. Swarmlord, 2x 13 Termagaunts, and 2 Hive guard should be worth a few laughs. vvvvv Painting in a garage, proper AC is uncommon in Alaska and its been a hot summer, hence the box fans. The HH books themselves are fabulous, and make the costlier LE versions of the regular codexes look like fanfics bound at

It appears to be called a Dimachaeron, and is £85. The Gal Vorbak are lovely models, but £45 for 5 Possessed is a bit too crazy for use in 40K. Hopefully they are better in 30K.

I don't play Tyranids, I painted an army on commission once but that's it. Sometimes, I thought people are whining when they said Tyranids were getting the shaft by GW/FW. But there it is. Look at that, what the gently caress kind of cartoon is that.

Prior to the game, Servo-Skulls get placed in useful areas for the MT and/or Sternguard units to drop in. At 1500pts I'd probably put two Vindicators on the table for more armor priority problems and the chance to nuke large swaths of infantry. Do Inquisitors have the option of taking the much-improved Hammerhand without rolling? I have to assume this would mean that they would have the Sanctis Primaris as well as the Force power. There's no FAQ for them, so I have to assume this is the case. PierreTheMime fucked around with this message at 13:35 on Jul 16, 2014 |

It would have to delicately lean down from its 40ft height for such a thing. Being so tall the drat thing can't even use its ridiculous talon-claw-things properly against infantry. It would have to resort to punt-kicking things with its dainty hooves. Most Tyranid bioforms have specific purposes and/or origins. I cannot fathom what purpose this stupid-thing would be useful for. It's too tall to attack infantry, too slender to have the mass to assault Titans, and without any ranged weapons (aside from likely a 6-12" tendril attack with Precision Shot ). I can't wait for it to have S6-7 and a ton of wounds with no decent save and no D-strength anything, having to resort to single Smash attacks which it will miss 1/2 the time because it will be WS3 for no goddamn reason--another glorious Apocalypse-level Tyranid model design. The thing is a Liefeld-level failure visually. And I LIKE Tyranids. PierreTheMime fucked around with this message at 14:06 on Jul 16, 2014 |

Nevermind, I think I put more thought into justifying that model that the modeller did. The actual design behind the model is: It's a giant lictor. With the Hive Guard helmet cuz it's cool. And it has scything tal... no, double scything talons! And rending claws... but it needs some tentacles so... tentacle-rending-claws! And it has some biomorph on its chest that does. Just saw that the repackaged Dark Vengeance will get a $10 bump but include the existing $20 plastic Aspiring Champion. Seems pretty reasonable to me, considering that GW bought the existing stock back. Not exactly benevolent but hardly exploitative.

Dunno if im going to augment that with anything, maybe like a dead bare shrub or something on the bigger bases. I'm open for ideas. I want to like it, but it looks so much more spindly than the initial previews like they couldnt figure out how to give it a leaping pose and just extended the legs to touch the ground. Although that straight up looks like a giant chest-maw, which is kinda metal.
