Both the Boss and the GT500, hence the moniker. I believe it's N/A, something to do with the subframe not being able to hold the big 5.8 or something.

drat, the new Mazda's have been crushing it on interior styling. Here's hoping they don't decontent it too much for the US or set up stupid option packages where you can't get the stick with the nice bits.

That's one thing I loved about my first-gen 6 when I got it. There were no other sedans of that era that had an interior design so simple and clean. The buttons were easy to use without looking and the gauges looked great.

Don't forget timg, but my question about this is where is the infotainment system? I see the map shows up in the cluster screen but i assume you aren't expected to touch that, so is everything controlled by the switches? I think that's a great idea because I hate touch screens. That photodump of the mazda 2 interior looks great but I notice the infotainment system is conveniently missing. I assume that's because it's horrible and sticks up right in the middle of the dash? In a previous post it looks like it retracts. Do we know if it just stays up all the time when the stereo is on or does it pop out every single time you need to press something, because I can't tell which would be more annoying. It has the side effect of being cheaper to manufacture with modern processes and materials. It's clearly a sign of spending serious engineering/R&D time and money on building something as cheaply as possible (which I mean as a serious compliment). A good example of this philosophy are the cases on commercial Dell Optiplex/Precision workstations. Beautiful pieces of engineering clearly meant to be mass produced as cheaply as possible with the fewest, simplest parts, yet rugged with decent aesthetics too. Automotive equivalents off the top of my head are things like the Chrysler K-car, pre-GM Saab 99/900, and the current Fiat 500. In Canada, the $9998 Micra has done horrendous damage to the segment the Mazda2 lives in. Hyundai is putting $4.5k on the hood of Accents. Luckily we don't have mandatory backup camera, so maybe that might sneak us by for a few years and explains why the Micra is Canada only in NA.

While technically true, I've driven both; the Fords tend to have a touch more grunt, while the Mazdas tend to handle better. Same with the FBRGT86-Z, they're almost identical, but with slight differences in setup (and interior trim) that might make one preferable to the other.
