but yeah im increasingly lolling at invocations of THE FOUNDING FATHER-FRAMERS the older i get. sure lemme take five minutes out of my day to give and entire gently caress about what some dumbasses from the times when people drank poison to cure head colds think about anything.

I think he did own a few slaves during his early career and I forget if he manumitted them or sold them, but he did eventually shift to a pretty strong abolitionist stance, which is surely more than you can say for Tommy J. and many (though not all) other slaveholders of the period.

Though he doesn't always get included in the category of "founding father," but Thomas Paine was a pretty consistently good thinker, though personally he was apparently such an obnoxious pain in the rear end America almost didn't bother to stop the French from executing him during the Terror. Monroe, the only friend he really had, intervened at, well, the 13th hour actually, since Paine should have been dead already but due to a clerical/logistical fuckup they forgot to bring him out to that morning's round of decapitations.

I like to think that if we brought a bunch of "founding fathers" to modern times they wouldn't give a poo poo about guns or abortion, but they would be super pissed about something goofy and trivial, like the size of our doorways or the fact that the local vet won't take your rotting tooth out.

Of course they'd actually be pissed because women can vote and we have a black man as president.

Iunno, taking pictures of yourself may serve some purpose. poo poo like this, though, yeah. Just take a drat picture that DOESN'T include yourself, it'll look better. Everyone you're sharing it with knows what you look like and anyone they share it with doesn't care.

It's a virus spread from Asia. Food photos were the gateway drug. As bad as it is in the West, you turds are just catching up to the people who invented self-obsessed public photography.
