Its superior German engineering. GM did a water cooled alternator on the Northstar motors, went over like a lead balloon, switched back to a heavy duty cooling model. Water cooling an alternator seems like a great idea in terms of keeping poo poo cool, but it just makes poo poo 20 times more complicated.

Do you recall the great hail storm of June/July 2010?

It destroyed this car of mine. I was literally sprint across a parking lot trying to get it out of the hail which had been falling for about 15s. 85 dents. She was never the same. I post in memoriam:

I'd rather drink a bottle of snap-on water. It may be $8 for a bottle that size, but ask any professional, they wouldn't trust anything less for their hydration.

Snapon water is just rebadged evian these days.

At least it isn't HF water, pretty sure they just brokered a disposal deal with the fracking companies.

Powershift

But the quality of the snap on water is only part of it, the support behind it is worth the added cost.

edit: i got some about 1 square foot flat icepacks with some medication that was shipped to me. I keep them in the fridge, and before i got to bed throw one inside the pillowcase of one of my pillows. Keeps the pillow cool for a good hour. I might actually survive the summer.

I also keep some in the freezer, and lay it in my chest or lay on it after i'm out doin hot stuff. Best thing ever. Looking it up, a case of 12 is only $16, seems like it would be a good investment in that heat.

(and can't post for 11 years!)

About a year and a half ago, I left a scathing review of a local car wash. Not because of the wash, but that they round up to the next dollar when running my card (and didn't tell me). When calling to discuss it a few days later, they said management told them to do that. Asked for a manager, got hung up on twice, then the phone was left off the hook.

Just got an email on Yelp from "one of the managers" offering me a free wash and detail. They've changed their name (again), but the reviews still pop up for the old name.

Drove by the other day, nice big "FREE WINDSHIELD REPAIR" banner on the building. Why no, this doesn't sound scammy at all, nor does it sound like they want me to pull my bad review down.

Yelp first world problems. I might give them a shot for a basic wash, but I'm not going to mention the email. They seem to change their name every year or two anyway.

yeah pretty much, but upgrading my current setup (homebuilt dodgy) will end up running about the same if I want to keep it reasonably portable. I'm accumulating supplies to build an eight foot long high banker for the fixed side of the operation, in the meantime I'll run this in the recirculating setup and I can take it out and drop it in a stream without having to worry about bending the bloody thing either.

Mind you, it'd take ages to accumulate anything substantial that way.
