Went to the LGS monthly tourney today, 9 players all up. I ended up taking Han Solo (46) Push the Limit (3) Gunner (5) Recon Specialist (3) Millennium Falcon (1) Corran Horn (35) Marksmanship (3) R2-D2 (4) Total: 100 Lost in the first round to double falcons, then faced Imperial after Imperial running interceptors & phantoms for the other rounds. Han & Corran tore through them, with Corran using his double tap marksmanship then zooming away regen'ing shields while Han just slowly lumbered around the board taking an evade, double focus and a stress each turn and pumping out dice. Cut to top 4 where I just beat another Imperial list with Krassis, Fel & Backstabber and conceded the finals to get home to the wife and kid (which I didn't need to, was told when I got home the phone call asking where I was wasn't a hurry up call ) Was interesting playing a 2 ship list, most people tended to only shoot at Corran if he was the only target for them but he put out a lot of hurt in the end, would happily play this in an elite imperial meta.

Tournament yesterday. Took: Rexler Brath 50 Heavy Laser, Sealth, Outmaneuver 3x Academy Pilot 36 1 Obsidian Squadron 13 Rexler was a monster. Especially against Rebels. Once he got outside of firing arcs he shredded X-Wings. I went 2-1. Got barely squeaked out by a swarm. It was just Rexler trying to get a kill shot on four TIEs all with two damage each... Then we ran out of time. Bah!

Did a summer kit tournament today. Took 1st with big Han and 3 bandit z-95s. I like this store because entry fee is either $7 or buy a $15 ship so it's a decent deal. I bought the third z-95 I needed for the list. Owner was nice and gave participants a bunch of stuff cuz he had some extras so I took home Biggs, ion/bomb tokens, academy pilot, dagger, bandit, black, and colonel Jendon. Really wish the medal was a z-95 but I'll take an x-wing. Now I'm painting my z-95 in mustang colors. Gonna be fun to paint the black and yellow checker pattern.

Placed second in my local tourney tonight. Running the following: Wedge Antilles (29) -Outmaneuver (3) Corran Horn (35) -Fire Control System (2) -Marksmanship (3) -Shield Upgrade (4) Airen Cracken (19) -Veteran Instincts (1) -Shield Upgrade (4) I must say, I really like using Wedge as a flanker with Outmaneuver. He either gets ignored and tears enemy ships to bits or the thought of -2 evade dice scares the hell out of the enemy so they mess up their ship positioning to mitigate his damage potential. First time using Corran and he won me the first round with a last turn Marksmanship double-tap, which was awesome. Airen turned him into a monster with the free action (Marksman for damage, free target lock with Airen, re-aquire target lock with Fire Control and double-tap again for two rerollable marksman volleys). I didn't get much use out of putting actions onto Wedge so next time I might drop VI and swap the shield upgrade on Corran for R2.

I'm trying to figure out how to get hold of the recolored X-Wing, pilots and accessories from the Rebel Transport. I've spent a great deal on ships already, and dropping $60.00 on a ship I don't really want or see myself using means that it would turn into a very, very expensive custom X-Wing expansion, and I'm not super satisfied with that. Is this the sort of thing people are selling separately in any kind of secondary market?

Haven't seen too much of a secondary market, but you can find the Transport on Amazon for like $45 which makes it slightly less awful. I'm sure there are people who've bought more than one and have extra cards, might just ask around on some of the other forums if no one here's done that.

And the B-wings are left out for the most of it due to technical difficulties in shooting them against a blue screen, too. Their profile was too thin looked at head-on or aft.

On the other hand, the Rebellion is outmatched, hopelessly so. The first Death Star was attacked by about thirty fighters, of which only three made it alive, sans the Falcon.

Yes, I don't mean it was necessarily small as in they only had that half-dozen capital ships, but small as in how few they could fit in a dynamic scene. In that shot at the very end, you have a few foreground elements against a largely static backdrop. It's the same when the Star Destroyer fleet first shows up: there's a crapton of them but only the SSD has any clearly visible dimensionality to it. My realisation was more that, for 20 years, I never even thought about it and that says a lot about how worthless the whole “fill every pixel with junk” approach in the prequels (and some special-edition scenes) is. Madurai posted:The little ship they pass at 0:08 seems like it would make an excellent model candidate. I think it's one of these. Do we still not know when Rebel Aces is coming out? It's holding up my miniaturemarket order and I'd rather remove them and put them in a separate order so I can possibly get the rest of my ships in time to have my ships before GenCon.

Sigma-X posted:Do we still not know when Rebel Aces is coming out? It's holding up my miniaturemarket order and I'd rather remove them and put them in a separate order so I can possibly get the rest of my ships in time to have my ships before GenCon. It's "on the boat," so that means any time between now and 6 weeks from now, typically. I don't know when it was changed to on the boat. Goddamn, that video made me sit and watch, full stop on anything else I was doing. It's why I love this game. You know, when I first started playing, my buddies and I went to 2 Kessel Run events over the weekend, and all came back kind of discouraged. We had all walked away with opinions about how it was too weighted on dice. Since then, I had been playing casually, but watching hardcore players and what they talked about. I've come to the realization that it's not entirely a dice game (although it's still there in a big way,) but it's hard at first to see what is and sin't pilot error. The rule of 11 is a perfect example of how, with forethought and planning, you can get the opportunities you want, and possibly deny your opponent, and that's where the in game skills come in. It's not just spatial recognition figuring if you have enough room to make the turn without kissing another model or smacking into an asteroid, it's math, and knowledge. I'm going to sound like an idiot, but I just realized only about a week ago that the 1 forward template is as long as a small ship base, and that therefore a 1 forward puts you two ship lengths forward. It was a mind blowing moment that really changed how I felt about moving my ships, and helping predict my opponent's moves. In fact, the Phantom is espeically good for this, in that it's very unpredictable thanks to the cloaking maneuver. The game isn't about making the dice roll your way, so much as it is about creating and denying opportunities for you and your opponent.

Wookiee Of Doom posted:Is there any chance that wave V might be at Gencon? Or is that just wishful thinking on my part? It's possible, though I don't think any of us are expecting it. Much more likely we'll just see Rebel Aces there. BUT IF THEY DO I played our last 50 point league night last night (stepping up to full 100 pts for the next 3 weeks), and won with the same Chewie (VI, 3PO, R2) list that I've commented on before. It is such a dominating set of crew, especially at only 50 points. This week was against a Bounty Hunter (Prox Mine, Recon Specialist) & Academy Pilot (which I'm now realizing was 51 points, so glad that I won!). Circled each other around the asteroids for the first few turns and then first chance to fire on the TIE was at range-1 + target lock and took him out in one shot. The game of attrition with the Firespray took much longer, but some good maneuvering into a few good range-1 attacks got the job done, as well as 7 or 8 extra shields thanks to R2 keeping me afloat. Now I need to come up with a good 100 point Rebel list. I know of some of the competitive staples like dual Falcons (only have 1 YT1300 myself though) or XXBB (could run); any new builds cropping up using Wave 4 stuff maybe? Seems to be a lot of buzz around Corran Horn (Marksmanship), so maybe I'll come up with something to include him.

I'm personally in love with the Etahn/Ten Numb combo: you are guaranteed to do at least one crit every single round if you manage to keep them flying in roughly the same area. I usually add marksmanship to Ten Numb as well as a fall-back in case I can't maneuver Etahn correctly. Still trying to figure out how to round up the squad though after including them two, though.

Just slap two Prototype A-Wings in there as fast ships to get in the way and deny actions while you crit them to hell with Numb. I think I'll see if I can get a game or two in tonight with that list and see how it goes.

Oh God, Green Lanterns (AAAA) is SO much fun now that A-Wing Test Pilot exists. It's like playing four miniature Soontir Fel's, and you have very little inter-unit dependency. I'm going to keep tweaking at it, but right now it's just a lot of fun to fly. (It really, really doesn't like YT-1300's, though) I've posted it before, but I still can't decide how to spend those last three points, or what to change. So far I've just been using Gemmer Sojan in our friendly games as one of the Green's, and he seems pretty good, but I don't feel like I'm doing as well as I could be. ============== Green Lanterns ============== 97 points Jake Farrell (28) A-Wing (24), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Chardaan Refit (-2), Outmaneuver (3), Push the Limit (3) Green Squadron Pilot (23) A-Wing (19), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Chardaan Refit (-2), Outmaneuver (3), Push the Limit (3) Green Squadron Pilot (23) A-Wing (19), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Chardaan Refit (-2), Outmaneuver (3), Push the Limit (3) Green Squadron Pilot (23) A-Wing (19), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Chardaan Refit (-2), Outmaneuver (3), Push the Limit (3)
