Nothing wrong with some good old silliness from time to time. But there is so much potential in animation, and a lot of it remains untapped because Disney taught the West to associate cartoons with children's entertainment. Your impression of Buffy is a great example: if that had been an animated show, they could have made both fight scenes and the monsters themselves more interesting. I would have loved to see a teenage monster hunter duke it out with demons straight out of the Lesser Key of Solomon.

Next time you have the urge to report or quote someone for making really dumb posts you don't agree with, however stupid they may be, might I suggest you forgo the report or quote buttons and instead add said user to your ignore list. This will improve your life, my life, and the lives of many other posters. Reporting is for people breaking actual rules. Not just being really annoying.

I actually lied a little. I have seen a few episodes of Adventure Time. That said, move the Adventure Time thread to GBS. Also I'm now two episodes into Motorcity and I'm liking it well enough. The characterization has brick-like subtlety, but the action set pieces are well animated. Level Slide fucked around with this message at 21:36 on Jul 20, 2014 |

But yes I think CN shows and anime can be more entertaining than live action TV in a lot of cases. icantfindaname posted:The CGI cartoons I've seen all have looked like hot garbage. Even in movies with decent computer animation it's starting to wear thin. Has it improved at all with recent shows? Yes, the new TMNT cartoon on Nick is wonderful. Since it's become a smash-hit, they've gotten a bigger budget and can be more detailed with the set pieces. But even in the first season they did a really good job of playing to their strengths. Scenes took place at night, or in confined, dark spaces, but still had detail to everything. Likewise, the characters look great, and the fight scenes are really, really well-choreographed and animated. I think the biggest improvement is that they've been able to increase the amount of extras. Which is good because at the beginning of the show I found myself wondering why New York City was so empty at night.

I must have hit a nerve or something. It is just hard to watch a show with characters that look and move like they came out of one of those CAD shorts. The voice work is hard to tolerate as well sometimes and I could really do without the sister and her boyfriend.
