If I recall the main road heading from T'town to Preston, before the railway crossover clusterfuck has wood poles hard up against the side of the road. On topic, most of the people I share the road with drive maybe 20km/h, have no concept of how right of way or turn signals work. Why yes, many of them are ancient and driving cars I'm pretty sure they have owned since the '70s, and kept in excellent condition might I say. But I also see tractors, mobility scooters and the occasional golf buggy on the streets around home too. Once I got to see an elderly farmer driving a really neat looking electric quad on the pavement too. Nothing really offensive locally. Just thought it'd make a change from the ranting. Although, there is one thing that does piss me off. An entire group of people walking side by side toward / away from school. The group consists of parents and children, spanning all the way from the side of the road and across the lane. There's a section of road by my house where the speed limit increases by 5 miles an hour (from 40 to 45.) The traffic signal this happens after is also where most traffic leaves this road, so a lot of spots open up. And it is just the most frustrating thing when people blow by the sign that says "45 MPH" while going 35 miles an hour with no cars in front of them without moving a muscle. Sometimes this frustrates me and I speed around these people. I know, I am the people you share the road with. But I would much rather go 10 over the speed limit than 10 under - don't people want to get to their destination in a timely manner?

To be fair, the difference in arrival times is probably like.. 30 seconds. The average speed in a city is about 30mph no matter how heavy your foot is, speeding at 10 or more over the limit really just means more brake wear when you have to slam them for a red light. Not that I'm a fan of people sandbagging either, go at least the speed limit or get off the road.

I've been pulled over for speeding once on that road, and it's because a cop felt like flying up on my rear end at 70+ mph and saying I was speeding (I was going 5 over.) They clocked me anyway and I didn't bother fighting it because I was technically speeding and I have no proof they were going extremely fast (not that it would affect the verdict of my ticket.) Just widely spaced abreast. Nobody in front or behind. There is a perfectly good pavement on the other side of the street. It doesn't bother me that they choose not to use that. The streets are pretty wide and usually even a group of people wandering along causes no issue. There is no need to be a walking roadblock.

Whenever I'm in heavy stop-and-go traffic, I try go the average speed so that I don't have to stop every 3 seconds, but you would not believe how mad that makes some people. Depends on severity of call. If I'm working in 911 and I'm on a 911 call, 99% of the time I continue the call and just radio dispatch to let them know I just witnessed an accident/was part of an accident (if my ambulance is still in good condition, of course). If it's a minor nick, like I hit a car with my side mirror or something, if I'm a good person I'll radio it in and deal with the fallout after the emergency. If, though, the integrity of the ambulance and its ability to provide care is in question due to the accident, I stop and check it out. If I'm on my way to a

RE: Circle chat & 4-way stop chat, I drive through small neighborhood each morning to go to work. There is a place that used to have a 4 way stop, but they have since changed it to a circle. The problem is that people still treat it as a 4 way stop. They are the ones on the left, the ones in the circle, the ones that others should yield to, yet there they are, stopping dead so someone on the right of them can go first. Sometimes they stop for no one! No one is coming, no one is near, they just stop dead at the edge of the circle. Sometimes they stop in the middle of the circle. It's not even a big circle!* The circle is so small that a single car can stretch from their entrance to the next entrance to the right. You can see everything that's happening at all times. I've almost hit multiple people here that do poo poo like this. The worst is when you're entering the circle, someone that obviously lives in the neighborhood and is butthurt that its not a 4-way stop anymore and it's not their loving turn yet, pulls out in front of you because you're following a car through. Dickhead, you don't get to pull out in front of me because you think it's your turn. There are no turns anymore, you loving mental midget, you yield to the person to your left (me). *I just measured the circle on Google maps. It's 60 feet. 20 meters. Goddammit.

In 2009, I got a ticket for going 72 in a 70 on the highway by Pasco/Walla Walla. I fought it, and I lost, because I had no proof that I explicitly wasn't speeding, because 72 is still 2 over the limit. $86. Sometimes cops just hate out-of-state license plates, I guess.
