Does anyone here know anything about the background/legitimacy of Twitter account Bruce Springnote? I've been following him for some reason since the Maidan days, but I've never been able to figure out who he is. Judging by recent tweets, he's an active soldier in the Ukrainian military?

Maybe that sounds like a weird question, but Latvia hasn't had any major natural disasters during my lifetime so I have no idea about weather alerts. The weather is OK where I live right now (it's nice and sunny today), although we had a couple of nasty storms a few days ago. (RIP, trees) I'm going to assume that orange alert means something along the lines of "be prepared"

Ahaha, if the separatists seriously mined the approach to MH17's crash site that is some incredibly stupid poo poo. As if they hadn't caused enough international uproar. If any international investigators are killed while searching the crash site by stepping on a landmine the story's going to flare up all over again.

I'm not sure he had too many marbles to begin with. But he has a long history of getting involved with terrible Eastern European conflicts and then getting out afterwards (so he can fight in the next war, between reenacting historical wars). I'd peg him as more of a war addict than an idealist.

I am certain the sanctions have not gone into effect yet. Tomorrow is when the EU signs off on them from what I remember reading. The news however could have triggered a rush to sell, as three major banks being blocked from foreign investment would do. VTB just gave Belarus a $2bn loan recently too. Whoops.
