icantfindaname posted:the dynasty warriors spinoff is going to make rogert ebert rise from the grave and shamble over to satoru iwata's home, hat in hand, to personally apologize for saying games arent art I've spent some time with it and it's going to do what The Bouncer did for the PS2. Meaning not much, it's got way less stuff than other DW games. It's way more novelty than gameplay. Once you get over having Zelda characters do something they don't normally do, it's a very very very very average and unremarkable spinoff. The player characters look nice but everything else is bland as all hell and the bosses are seriously lacking in any sort of complexity. I'd give it a 6/10.

Mario Kart 8 sold over 2 million copies and pushed the WiiU sales to over 500k in a month. If you don't think a Zelda game plus Smash and Amiibos aren't gonna push that even higher then welp,

Yo just a question, but why doesn't Nintendo feature Tiny Kong in more games. She wasn't even in tropical freeze. Seems like such a waste to redesign the character for the lovely DS Diddy Kong racing port and Mario Super SLuggers. Two not very good games(OG N64 DKR was the best tho).

Yeah, Microsoft is probably more financially sound today than they have ever been. It is the only reason they can keep dumping hundreds of millions down the Xbox hole.

BGrifter posted:I always forget their enterprise stuff is a ridiculously huge money maker. Bankrolls a whooooooole lot of failure. Their Windows division did great too I mean the thing to keep in mind is that if Windows for example drops by 10% in revenue it's still billions of dollars in sales and very profitable, you dig? Like developing and maintaining the software they sell does not have costs nearly as high as the sales of it they get in a bad year. They sell you or the company making your computer a Windows license of any version for $140 or whatever, and it only cost them pennies to issue the license and the average cost of the development and patching per unit probably amortizes out to like $10 per user. It prints money.

quote:Here's the exact quote taken from a feature in the latest issue of the UK's Nintendo Gamer magazine: "Buried in reams of financial data is the revelation that Nintendo have 812.8 billion Yen (£6.7/$10.5 billion) in the bank - enough for it to take a 20 billion Yen loss (£163/$257 million) every year until 2052.

When was that quote made because supposedly it's much less now and money doesn't exactly work that way, where you just have a slush fund of sorts to deflect losses to.
