I didn't date in high school, and I usually didn't go to movies when I was dating in college, so I guess it would have to be "The 40-Year Old Virgin." I was freaking 21.:smith:

(I think the first movie I ever saw in theaters at all was "The Little Mermaid," when I was 5)

The closest thing I can remember to seeing a movie in the theaters was some cartoon kid movie (maybe Lady and the Tramp?) when I was like 5. Something happened to one of the animals and I cried until my mother had to take me out of the place. That's about all I remember. Weird kid poo poo.

The first movie I can remember where I could understand the concept of a movie and where it made an impression on me was The Empire Strikes back. After that, Clash of the Titans, Tron, ET and Wargames. It's hilarious looking back at Clash of the Titans. What an awful movie. We went and saw it like 8 times and were mesmerized by the "special effects."

I remember being disappointed that the local theater sold out of tickets to their one-night-only showing of a print of Peter Pan they bought.

Mostly because the theater manager decided that he'd dress up as Captain Hook for the occasion and come out to announce to all the kids standing outside that they couldn't come in.

I saw a Tom Hanks movie with a guy I was really into and I found out he likes to dip his already salted popcorn into salt.

Dodged a bullet with that one

I was 5. I sobbed copiously and built that into a love-hate relationship with movies that blatantly tug on heartstrings.

I remember having a phase where I was all about movies where animals were the stars; Homeward Bound (ALL OF THEM), Air Bud, and Ed are among the movies that I have fond membories about but refuse to re-watch lest I realize how bad they are.

Loved that movie too. I just looked up the original book it was based on, though, and the names of the animals are retarded. Name your animals better, English and Canadians!

Yeah, another one was Fluke, which was basically Ghost, but with a dog. And then were the Beethoven movies (and before that the Turner and Hootch series).

The 90s were a lost decade.

Don't forget about "K-9," that masterpiece starring Jim Belushi.

...

Actually, it's probably best if you forget about that one. Or anything with Jim Belushi.

Titanic, which probably worked out better than my alternate plan of Star Wars IV: A New Hope (special lucas-moneymaking-edition). I probably watched that poo poo 3 or 4 times in the theaters, 13/14 year old girls just loved it. And, well, there's no Jek Porkins but you got to get your priorities straight man.

Barbarella > Conan

It's obvious my parents didn't care what the gently caress kind of media I consumed as a kid under 10. First PC game I ever played was Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards.

I wasn't allowed to get any M-rated games until I was actually, physically 17 but that was my mom's policy. My dad let me stay up late and watch Starship Troopers and Apocalypse Now with him.

I liked Starship Troopers when I first saw it (14ish?), but now I appreciate it so much more because I get the jokes.
