In boot camp we still had the "ironing watch" which was obviously a holdover from dungarees since we had literally just switched. Wonder if they still do it.

A little research explains that it's actually two radars on each side...I thought I was looking at an enormous transmitter and almost as huge receiver next to it, which would be odd. Apparently replacing that mess with a solid-state system lightened the superstructure by 20 tons.
