This does not make sense when, again, aggregate indicia also indicate improvements. The belief that things are worse is false. It remains false.

A well designed hatchback is incredibly practical despite retaining a small footprint on the road and reasonable turning radius. I probably could have lived inside the Honda Fit I used to drive if I had needed to.

A Ford Fiesta ST is quicker around a track, and seats four+cargo more easily.

The BRZ looks cooler though and is a great car overall, color me jealous.

A compact hatchback car made faster and more fun to drive. The Volkswagen GTI is pretty much the car that defines the genre. Europe is huge on them, in the USA they're a bit more of a niche.

I had a Subaru Legacy for a while and that thing was amazing. AWD is also fantastic for rain and snow.

Speaking of imgur: the hatred of women is pretty intense over there. Plenty of front page unironic anti-women's rights stuff like all the time.

Yeah, I always tell people it has room for two people you like and two people you don't.

I strongly considered the BRZ. Miserable in snow. Also, not quite enough raw power.

A few inches of snow is really fun, but that's all we ever really get here.

What did you end up with instead? WRX?

I'm OK with the Subaru. You get one because you want the extra space, weight, and such without a full on SUV. Not the pretend SUV of a hatchback that'd probably slide right off a cliff if it got just a little below freezing.

I'm veering into car shopping myself. My ol' Accord has served me well but she's old. So far I'm looking at Cruze, Passat, Jetta, or another Accord.

The unsettlingly small amount of foot traffic in the country's largest city and the fact that even in a three-minute tourism promo they couldn't completely disguise the fear in some of their eyes makes the whole thing so damned unsettling.

If anyone's missed the article on Putin/Russia in the New Yorker, it's not nearly hard enough on bootlicking wannabe Michael McFail and it's written for domestic consumption (though surely much of it's true), but there are some fantastic quotes and anecdotes in there.
