http://www.maximumfun.org/shows/judge-john-hodgman Judge John Hodgman, if you think he is pretty funny. http://ohnopodcast.com/ Oh no! Ross and Carrie if you like people going undercover joining alien cults and stuff. Although the Carrie host's voice can get a little bit grating sometimes.

(Do you mean the A/B back and forth, use of music and sound effects, sort of like that?) the way they constantly cut the guests off mid-sentence with the host's dumb wispy voice finishing the second half of their thought is the podcast equivalent of nails on a chalkboard to me i would literally prefer listening to a podcast of nails on a chalkboard

Jack Gladney posted:He used to do web development and found this one guy who had a scam where a banner ad script would drop a cookie that counted as a referral for that ad any time a user went to amazon or ebay. He tried to reverse engineer it but couldn't, so he blackmailed the guy into sharing it by threatening to call the FBI. FBI figures it out anyway after Dunning clears like a million from some lame amazon ads, then bam--prison time. wow. I was contemplating becoming a skeptoid supporter via micropayments since it really is a good and valuable podcast but that is some crass, shameless poo poo. gently caress brian dunning.

House to Astonish. Two Scottish lawyers review comic books and comic news. Even if you don't care about comics the Official Handbook segment at the end is usually great, where they take an old and (rightfully) forgotten comic character and attempt to modernize them. Plus they haven't committed wire fraud.

Helical Nightmares posted:OP, best podcast I listened to recently was the Joe Rogan Experience with Ms Pat. Ms Pat has some hosed up stories. it was an entertaining cast but jesus christ. Bill Burr episodes are my favorite of JRE casts, his own casts kinda pale in comparison. i guess at least recently he's been really down which has clearly affected it. I dont get the hate for Rogan, it really depends who he has as a quest, but if its someone interesting he has no problem letting them do most of the talking etc.

Dr. Pancakes posted:Any other good history/philosophy or science podcasts I'm downloading some of the hardcore history ones now. Radiolab was mentioned a few times for science but I've listened to a lot of those already. History: I haven't found any podcast or lecture series to rival the quality of what you get with Hardcore History so keep that in mind. A History of the World in 100 Objects by the BBC/British Museum kept my attention throughout the entire series. http://www.bbc.co.uk/ahistoryoftheworld/ Norman Centuries and 12 Byzantine Rulers by the same author are excellent if narrowly focused podcasts that feel like epic stories. http://normancenturies.com http://12byzantinerulers.com There is a lot of love out there for A History of Rome. I found it too dry which was a bit of a disappointment as I really enjoy Classical history and I have the tolerance to get news from Politico podcasts. YMMV http://thehistoryofrome.typepad.com/the_history_of_rome/archives.html For the interesting and layered history of New York, The Bowery Boys is usually entertaining. The Halloween/Spooky New York episodes are consistently worth the time. http://boweryboys.libsyn.com/ Science: Unless they are actual scientists/physicians that currently work or have worked in the field, most science reporting/podcasts are poo poo. For general science the aforementioned podcasts from Nature and Science are good starts. Nature is more accessible to the layman (and edited better). http://www.nature.com/podcast/ http://www.sciencemag.org/site/multimedia/podcast/ PNAS produces PNAS Science Sessions which are 5-7 minute reports on a single subject. http://www.pnas.org/site/podcasts/podcasts.xhtml Omega Tau I have been impressed by. Hosted by two Germans, they spend 1-2 hours on a single subject and they go in depth. Subjects range from the Space Shuttle, Self-Driving Cars, high energy neutrinos, viruses, bitcoin, to flying off an aircraft carrier. Highly recommended. http://omegataupodcast.net/englishOnly.php
