If there was more fluid syncing from iTunes to iOS and iPod devices, I for one would love it too. This would mean I would listen to my music as albums. The whole reason I don't right now is because I could start one album on one device, and then I'll go home and it will resume where I was last when I was listening on that computer. Anything that uses the "option" modifier is considered advanced, such as choosing iPhoto Libraries, getting more detail from menu bar panes, etc.

When you are done, Option click it again and it becomes black again. You are no longer in DND. Fun fact: in Yosemite DP5, the switch is gone, and the explanatory text in System Preferences says "Turn on Do Not Disturbed in <to be determined>." So Option-click is currently the only way, I think, aside from setting up an automatic time.

What I've done is just bought a few used AirPort Express on Craigslist and wired them into speakers with an AUX in. I think docks are kind of going the way of the dodo. It's pretty good for cleaning up caches, logs, and unneeded language files, as well as uninstalling apps and finding large files to remove. The UI is really nice too. I don't know that I'd pay $40 for it though. Between the $13 AppZapper and free Disk Inventory X, you can duplicate a lot of the functionality pretty cheaply. If $40 isn't a big deal to you or you're desperate to reclaim as much space as possible, it's probably worth it.

Is there a way on OS X for the iMessages unread count to exist somewhere else other than the dock icon for Messages.app? I've got my dock hidden, and the only reason I ever look at it at all is for that info. I wish it could be in the menu bar.

I split my hard drive into 2 partitions when I installed Yosemite so that I could keep my Mavericks install if I needed it. Now I do need it to run some software, but it doesn't show up in the boot list. The partition shows up in finder under Yosemite but will not boot. I can access files in it, so I know it's still there. Any clue on what I need to do to make it bootable? Here's how the disks show up in Disk Utility:  MBP is my Mavericks partition. I'm assuming the problem is that it's under the MBP2 disk?

It appears as though after installing Yosemite to an external disk or partition, the installer has trouble quitting then just gets stuck. Boot to Yosemite, go to system preference>startup manager and select your mavericks disk from there. This should fix the issue and it should work like normal from now on.

EDIT: TM doesn't block you from putting other things on the volume if you want, but Time Machine will want to use all the space it can get.

You have to use their Wifi Sync, which only syncs when you're on the same network as the PC and only when you've activated Wifi Sync mode or whatever.

My late 2011 13" MBP is getting really sluggish these days. Is it worth me running some kind of software to see if it's bloated with malware? I can't imagine that that would be the problem but I can't think of anything else that might be slowing it down...
