8 shots hitting a target running away at 12 yards with a pistol, that's some extremely impressive shooting if true. I'd bet powder traces on the victim and police car will reveal that shots started much closer.

What would be the point of saying he shot him running away? That's about as bad as it can get. The only thing worse would be killing him while he was on the ground. You could at least lie and say he was advancing.

If you say you shot while he was running away, you're not shooting an unarmed teen, you're "firing upon an escaping fugitive"

It's amazing how goons can miss the point consistently, there are white people in photos of the civil rights movement, there were White organizers so maybe just maybe you might be missing a point here?

Speaking of white people co-opting the movement the National Moment of Silence went ok here in San Antonio. The Brown berets provided security(they were great....noticing a trend here) it's was 99 degrees outside so that was horrid be we managed. The organizers were a nice bunch of women from Battleground Texas. There we some white people from out of state belonging to the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA (who I was told are a thorn in local protests I swear next protest I will personally chase these assholes off) Who made it impossible to chant no justice no peace because they would always add so,gently caress the police (no one chanted that part)and generally took over the chant. One of the people from the RCP got up gave a speech which started off nicely about the victims of police brutality and shifted to her shilling her stupid website and calling for revolution when the protest was stated multiple times on the facebook page to be non-violent.

Another lady not affiliated with them but just as stupid, started a song but when someone noticed all the black and latino people were standing in the back or leaving ,they tried to bring up the fact that the people standing up and talking we all white (it wasn't like that at the start) singing lady started to argue back but the lady who brought it up just dropped it. I was so pissed they totally killed the mood and I'm a socialist but I didn't come there to sell stupid loving newspapers or take over a protest and turn it into a recruitment thing.

Had something similar happen at the NMOS is Austin. Had a good sized crowd, maybe 100-150 at the Capitol, did some chanting, a couple of folks spoke. One or two RCP people spoke, calling for "communist revolution" and got shut out pretty quick. Some white dude interrupted a black woman speaking about how she's afraid for her son's life with "all our lives are at stake" and got quickly shouted down and corrected. Other than that, it was a good event and the organizers seem to be carrying the momentum forward in applying pressure on the local government regarding incidents of police brutality here in Austin.

Picture from the people showing up before the NMOS started:

There are 1000 other things the cop could have done that would not result in the death of an 18 year old with no priors and his entire life ahead of him.

If that is him, why the gently caress would he do that? Why, just days before going to college, would he decide to rob a convenience store for cigars...? I mean I can see the photos and the similarities, but something just feels really bizarre about the timeline of events, especially considering how long it took them to release the details of this. Why wait until today to release poo poo about the store and the call about the robbery?

the "black person wears baggy clothing therefore is scary thug" is a common excuse among right-wingers to justify gunning down unarmed black men, nothing new here. the disturbing implication here is that black people deserve to die because they dress a certain way or identify with a certain culture, its just old-fashioned racism.

this doesn't really change that much, the people who thought the cops were right are still going to think they're right (and this merely justifies their preexisting bias), the people who thought the cops were wrong will still think the cops were wrong

this just helps the media and society writ large brush it off sooner rather than actually have a serious discussion of the police but lol if you loving thought that was going to happen anyway in america

I am inclined to agree with people here saying this will be enough for most people, which is off course total bullshit and shameful.

It also harms the narrative presented of a "gentle giant" who would never harm a fly when he was assaulting a store owner not long before the incident.

However it has 0 to do with an unarmed man being gunned down, or the heavy handed response by the PD.
