I've got weld on rear toe and camber adjusters sitting here, I just needed to pick up a LSD, offset subframe bushings, trailing arm bushings, and braided brake lines before I drop the rear subframe and do it all at once.

I looked at lathewerks, but a similar knob from them started around $160. I was kind of surprised how something like a decent weighted shift knob was actually kind if a pain to find. There were a lot of knobs closer to the $50-$80 mark, but they all had some characteristic that made them unappealing. LW and Flossy were the only ones I could find that seemed to get it right.

I think the idea is that it makes the engagement feel smoother since you need less muscle action to change gears. I didn't get a weighted one from LW.

The more inertia in your shifter the more expensive it feels. I also find (on the Vibe at least, which has a surprisingly heavy knob from the factory) that it seems to find the right gate pretty much on its own with a heavy knob, where with a light one your hand movements have to be very deliberate.

Light car shifters feel like a lightswitch instead of a shifter. I don't know what it is, I want it to feel clunky. Fixed the aftermarket radio install in my Forester today. The bracket was held in by two screws (the other two were missing the hole entirely) and the radio was held in by one screw. Fortunately I found the other... and then moved it forward a few slots in the bracket so it actually matched up with the dash bezel. Amazingly the PO (well, PPO, the PO was Ozmiander) knew what he was doing and used cap crimp splices and a set of pigtail harness adapters instead of butchering the stock harness. I was rather pleasantly surprised by this. Also cleaned a ton of PPO grunge out of various crevices and change holders, got the speedo needle to move back to zero (I got it to wrap around and stick to the bottom of the zero peg by accident on Thursday night. Whoops!) And fixed the overhead console clock. 3 large smt resistors had come desoldered somehow, probably insufficient solder fillet, so I resoldered them and suddenly it works.

Changed the oil and put a new y-pipe and cats on my Forester. So glad it doesnt sound like a leaky rattly shitbox anymore. Got my lift blocks for the front today so I cant wait to put the new suspension I got for it from INTERNETRACECAR.

Nearly got in a wreck tonight while on a delivery thanks to some jackass (who probably stalled out) sitting at the inner edge of his lane with his driver's side door wide open. No he didn't even have hazards on. Saw the drat door last second and had to swerve a bit to avoid it, causing a real good -thunk- when my Civic Si's right side went off onto the nonexistent shoulder of the tiny 2 lane road. But it's okay because I got a $1.92 tip right! So tomorrow I get to go under and do some eyeballing to make sure nothing is bent or otherwise visibly hosed up.

I had my passenger side wiper decide to say "peace, bitches" during a pretty good storm. No warning, and it was a nice Bosch Evolution blade (proof that Bosch can't even get wiper blades right). Had some dirty gym socks in the trunk, and some zip ties.  Thankfully it was the passenger blade, so it's not a big deal if I can see THAT clearly through that side. I just wanted to keep the glass from getting scratched up. It's bad enough having to deal with non-tipping customers calling you out to buttfuck nowhere but you add in their lovely psycho dogs, their crazy as gently caress neighbors (last week one guy guessed the wrong unmarked trailer and was greeted with a shotgun!), and all the retards on the road you have to deal with over the course of 100+ miles a night for dinner shift alone and this job is. not. worth. it. And of course had I gotten in a wreck management would just whine about how they were down one driver and might have to give someone else overtime to compensate.

Definitely check the tire. I really like that MR2.

From super poverty spec base model, it now has a center console, overhead console with temp and compass, power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, better seats from a Grand Cherokee, cargo light, underdash courtesy lights, leather steering wheel, and will soon have delay wipers and cruise control. Still a 4-banger 2WD though... After an oil change, wash, and a coolant change over the weekend (and a bit of an engine-bay cleaning), it got me the 146 miles from DFW to Longview, TX for work with no problem. 70-85 most of the way (75 MPH speed limit, gently caress yeah!), AC all the way.

It's actually there to cool off the ps fluid. Not a lot of cars come with an actual multi-row radiator for the ps, most just come with a small metal loop and it's enough to dissipate the heat generated by every day steering inputs, for almost the entire car buying public, they'll never need any more cooling than that little loop provides.

Replaced the rear seatbelt, rear speakers, wiper stalk, and ignition switch on the 850R today. As soon as this storm is over it's back out to the pick n' pull to snag some sweet sweet V70 rear lights, a spoiler, window regulator, roof rack, and door speakers.

You'd think that, but mine does come with a multi-row radiator for the PS fluid at the front. (Edit: Not mine, but here is one I found on Google, its' the thin radiator at the front.) No idea what it's for, every model of this car shipped with fluid inlet port for the rack in the same location. The whole thing is crimped, so it's not like it's a modular design thing. It's on the high pressure side, so maybe it's an intercooler (lol). Annoyingly, this is also the lowest-hanging thing in the entire car. Finished cleaning it up after it's 3000 mile annual journey from Canada to Mexico.   Those who completed the whole trip, taken at the Border Field park, San Diego. (click for big)  The trip:  Lasted 14 days in total, and the only part that broke was an exhaust clamp. 56 years old now, clock rolled on the odometer multiple times, and it still keeps on chugging

I'm not a big fan of beetles, but yours is pretty cool. I got this truck a few days ago:  98 Chevy Silverado z71 Changed the engine and transmission fluids/filters, changed the fuel filter, new air filter, greased the front end zerk fittings, washed and waxed, glued a broken part back together on the console, replaced tailgate handle bezel, greased door hinges/tailgate hinges, and then I removed the plastic bedliner... ...and found this:  At first I got pretty pissed that I didn't look under the bed liner before I bought it. I thought the PO had cut a hole to replace the fuel pump, which is retarded imo. Some people do it, but it's not hard to just unbolt one side of the bed, loosen the other side, then prop one side up to access the pump. But upon further inspection, it turned out to be this.  Which is fine, at least it can support weight put over it when it's folded down. I was afraid I was going to have to build a hatch door or something to cover the fuel pump, but it's just a ball - hitch. I greased it up and folded it back down. Pretty happy with the truck so far. I loaded up a couple dirt bikes in the bed, and another dirt bike plus an atv in a trailer behind it. Towed well enough. Plans are to have the interior professionally detailed as it's pretty dirty and has a feint smell of cigarette smoke, change axle and transfer case fluids, inspect the brakes, new tires, spray in bed liner, and figure out what's squeaking in the front suspension that needs replaced.

Yeah, I recognized that as soon as I saw the second pic. This was pulling a horse or stock trailer before you bought it. A lot. The PO was a construction worker so who knows. The lumber rack probably saw a lot of use. Also I'm looking at it out the window right now parked on level ground, and it's sitting level. The rear doesn't sag at all. If anything the front is a tad lower.

Just looked like it in that picture. Not saying the only kind of trailers that one would use with a ball in the bed are horse and stock, but they are the common one around here. RV's/car carriers/etc usually have a proper elevated 5th wheel in the bed in my experience.

Belts on the Integrale changed, but it's going back Tuesday because the engine temp is building too quickly. Suspect the new water pump bearing has failed - it happens out of the box sometimes, so no big deal. Trucking it back over to the garage a little later than we wanted to because the guy was reconditioning a Muria for someone that had gotten one for a song. The GT4 sits under its cover and waits. What for I'm not exactly sure, I need to get that thing out to SH25 and through the hills.

Did the front and rear axle oil on the Silverado today. Had to wait on the transfer case since apparently the fill and drain plugs are a 11 mil allen, and I only had a 10. Napa didn't have one either, so I had to order one which will be here in the morning.

Replaced some missing seat hardware, more carburettor fun, and de-randomized the vacuum hoses on the Niva. Now I'm having yet another attempt at getting one of the mowers going. 2x B&S, a Tecumseh, and two 2 strokes. All hosed.
