That was another thing I was asking about before, As far as earning EC the things I've found aren't super efficient. Granted I'm new and have yet to really dive into the exchange (not that I have much capital for it) but my options for EC so far have been explained as:

Daily farm mission from the foundry, about 500k EC a day as loot will stop dropping after a while due to some cap on loot drops.

Buy keys or, right now the romulan duty officer packs and sell them on the exchange. I already went over how long that would take.

Yeah roll some alts. Foundry drops and dil are both capped per character.

I'm curious about this. Are you stuck in that lovely tier 1 T'liss forever, or can you still get the fancier Romulan ships?

Also: teaming, queues, etc.
Sector Space: Because a Romulan mission (one that unlocks access to getting out of Tau Dewa) is not complete, unallied Romulans do not have permission to leave the Tau Dewa system of their own accord, and are thus stuck in the eponymous cage. Though you may be free of alliances, you are trapped in your home sector. The primary features of New Romulus is also unvisitable, including both the Embassy and the Command Center. The only version available of Tau Dewa III appears in the Search for New Romulus mission. As a result...

Ships: Not only do unallied Romulans not have access to the Command Center, but as an extension, they do not receive their promotion mission. As a direct result, they do not receive their free ship. Likewise, they do not have access to either allied faction's ships. However, they can still claim refits and retrofits from the C-Store. On a similar note, the only small craft they can use is the Scorpion Fighter (as the Runabout for some reason cannot be purchased; no small craft are even listed in the ship vendor), but there is no reason to use it, other than in small craft queues atl Level 50 (see Queues). Older lock box ships are also unusable (but from Voth-on, I think they work), stating either that the character is unable to use the item, or that the requirements for the item are not met. Things like the Risian Corvette and Luxury Yacht can be used, but you need to pay Lobi since you can't get to the event areas to grind the currency. Unallied Romulans are capable of using the Mirror Warbirds available through the lock boxes. Fleet ships, as can be imagined, are inaccessible due to not being allied.

Queues: Unallied Romulans can enter any queue that allows for cross-faction teams. This means, sadly, that Mirror Universe queues (during the event) are inaccessible to them, which would be very useful for leveling. This is because each instance of Mirror Incursion is unifactional; that is, there is a KDF and a Fed version of the map, where the two do not overlap. At level 44/45, unallied Romulans are capable of joining Normal-difficulty STFs. At level 50, all Reputation-style queues are available to them. Fleet queues are unavailable, as they cannot be part of a fleet. They are capable of earning Fleet Marks through other queues, such as Mine Trap; however, they are unable to donate said Fleet Marks without being part of a fleet. The Tholian Red Alert also cannot be responded to.

Bridge Officers: Nope. You don't get any more than the story-mission ones. Hope you have the Liberated Reman or don't mind dilithium-bought commons. Traded-over level-up Romulans from other characters work just fine, though.

Duty Officers: At level 11, unallied Romulans may proceed to do duty officer missions that are available to Romulan captains of either side. Unallied Romulans are also able to do duty officer missions outside of the Tau Dewa sector block, by way of invitation to another captain's bridge.

Equipment: At level 40, unallied Romulans can equip the Aegis set, just like anyone else. The set has no cosmetic effects on the ships they are applied to (no neon red/blue Tron lines). However, the cosmetic effects of the three-piece bonus (the reactive shielding) will still display. Through the Reputation system, unallied Romulans can access any item that both factions can (Omega / Assimilated sets) but not any faction-specific equipment (M.A.C.O. / Honor Guard sets).

Contraband. Make Klingon alts and farm contraband. While you build up your doffs, run Vulture Wheel, a low level foundry mission that takes longer to load than to complete for 1440 dil + 960 for Investigate Officer Reports. Run trivia: http://stosite.com/the-path-to-2409-answers/. Hit up the dil mines. Once you get into your late 40s, Pi Canis raids and Breen dailies open up.

Sounds like a good idea, how exactly do you farm contraband? I guess I should also be running these dailies on my existing 50? I assume I just find them under my Missions > Available?

Contraband can be obtained from various 45 minute Marauding assignments found in the various "contested" sector blocks or 2 hour Disable Freighter assignments. For the 45s, you'll want 2 blue and 1 purple Tactical/Security Officers with Aggressive as a minimum for 0% failure. A non-aggressive purple tac/sec officer can be used in place of an aggressive blue.

Invest in doffs, research where you can get free ones.

What I do for dil is to turn in contraband across a lot of alts.

The EC -> Contraband -> Dil -> Zen -> EC cycle is quite profitable, so it is perfectly sustainable just to buy contraband on the exchange and then sell some of its dil/zen products at the end for EC and keep the remainder of the dil.

Consider that one stack of contraband, which is traded in for 100,000 dil, costs about 10,500,000 ec. This means to buy dil for EC via contraband (the contra-cost of dil) is just over 100 ec/dil.

100,000 dil buys 602 zen at the current rate of 168dil/zen.

Converting Dil -> EC via keys, where each key costs 112.5 zen (purchased in 10 packs) is converting 18900 dil (168x112.5) to 2.65m ec. Yielding a conversion rate of 140 ec/dil. A 40% increase over the contra-cost of dil.

This is however an inefficient way to convert dil->ec.

It is better to use either Research & Development Packs (which are the most efficient, but do not stack in the inventory and might not sell quickly) or Promo Packs. R&D Packs cost 42,000 dil each (in 4 packs) and sell for 8.4m, for an ec/dil rate of 200ec/dil. This is fully *double* the contra-cost of dil.

You don't need much capital to start this up. It is very scalable, since it does not take much time to cycle through alts that are camped by the contraband turn-in spot, and as you accumulate dil you can exchange it for zen to obtain additional character slots and increase your productive capacity.

So, apparently even after a campaign of getting lake sleaze victims from TheTradingChannel to mail the owner, @usko_detra, nothing was done to remove it from its mod position.

It wouldn't be surprising to learn @usko_detra gets a cut of lake's real money sales, and would go a long way toward explaining why he lets it continue to debase his channel.

I think you guys should consider letting people in NoPPS know you run a trading channel as well. NoPPS has a huge audience and benefits from a lot of good will. It would be a public service to move trading from a sleaze infested channel like TheTradingChannel to one that was properly run.

Quick question: the assault cruiser guide says you should always be chaining two copies of EPtS1 and two copies of EPtW3, but... wouldn't that just lead to an enormous amount of time being wasted on shared Emergency Power cooldowns?

They have 45s cooldown individually, reduced to 30s with a duplicate. When you fire one off it starts a 15s cooldown on all other EPtX abilities, and they each have a 30s duration so:

EPtS1 > 15s > EPtW1 > 15s > EPtS1 wears off, fire EPtS2 > 15s > EPtW1 wears off, fire EPtW2 > go to start

After the first 15s of spammage you'll keep both powers up at all times.

Torpedoes generally end up doing less damage overall than another beam/cannon weapon. They do very little damage if they hit shields, and while high yield torps do respectable damage, they're slow and targetable, which means that any AOE tends to kill them before they can hit. Also, when running a beam ship their arc doesn't overlap the broadside arc very well, meaning that when you're shooting torps you're not shooting with half your beams.

With all that said, the wiki guides tend to be min/max guides, and the game is easy enough that you don't need to min/max. If you want to play with torpedoes, by all means use them.

Not actually true. Only plasma, tricobalt, and some of the rep or lobi torpedoes end up targetable with high yield. High yield quantum torpedoes will do massive damage while remaining untargetable.

It's torpless because it's a budget PVP build. If you're not going to PVP with it lose the mine and replace it with a turret. Then retrain the dispersal pattern to torp spread and replace a DHC with a photon torp.

Admittedly Cryptic's loved making rep/lobi/special torpedoes have targetable high yield variants. All the lobi torps do, the omega/romulan/gravimetric torps do... I think the biometric one from undine rep is the only decent one that doesn't?

In any case, the main issue with torpedoes is that they usually can't broadside so they're useless for half the ships in the game, and that they really need to use torpedo skills (be it spread or HYT) to make the most of them. That said, it's not really going to cripple you or anything if you use one in an escort, especially with the kinetic shearing rep trait, and it's sure fun to watch unshielded ships pop to a HYT/spread volley.

Really, torpedoes as a whole need a lot more damage in PVE. When the biometric torps were bugged and accidentally hitting with twice as many volleys with the skills it was the first time torpedoes actually felt right, but that sort of output would just gently caress up PVP more than it already is.

I typically use the spread with the Undine torps because I want that proc and DOT effect on as many things as possible, am I overvaluing it?

I think a doff with a "Your torpedoes have a 90' arc" or "Your torpedoes have a narrow arc but fire sideways" passive might be worth it. It would even make sense to have that as some kind of Engineering class perk since it encourages the broadsiding that cruisers are built for.

An easy peasy way to do CCE is just to set up with some torpedos and hang out at about 9.5km from the entity and shoot in torps.

Torps dont lose any accuracy or effectiveness because of range since the entity doesnt move around, and it doesnt have shields so they do full damage to it.

You can scoot back when it blows it load.

I (albeit in an absolutely maximized pvp torp brel) blew up 3 times because i wasnt paying attention and still got 3rd place just lobbing in torps.

Its probably the most stress free way to do CCE.

Don't get... too excited though as there's basically nothing of note yet and it's pretty clearly just testing to see if the backend stuff doesn't explode in a live environment. The level cap is nominally raised, but the UI doesn't show it and the queues break for anyone over 50, so may as well just wait until next week when stuff's actually supported. :toot:

The Entity also takes severely reduced damage from energy weapons (something like 10% of normal? 20%? Pretty nerfed anyway) while kinetic does full damage.
